Hey y'all! I will be applying for UTMB SON for fall 2020! I couldn't find a forum for it, so I decided to start one! It is a little early but many of you know it take forever to gather everything needed for the application! Please post all of your questions, stats, etc. SO excited to apply in November!

Hey guys!! I just started the spring semester. I literally just had my first week of classes this past week so it’s really fresh lol. I just wanted to ease some worries as far as GPA. I applied with a 3.19 cumulative and was still admitted into the program. They do look at more than grades and as long as you put your all into that personal statement and try your best on the teas you definitely have a great chance!!

congrats! so happy to hear that you've had a successful week :) if you don't mind sharing, how soon/late did you submit your application before your deadline?

That is so great to hear! ? How are classes so far?

Classes are good! It’s a lot of information and for me personally it’s a little overwhelming because there Is a lot of reading a lot to keep track of. Organization is definitely going to be big.

Congratulations! I never post but I was wondering how high your teas grade was? Also, if you have any tips for the personal statement because I’m currently struggling with that. ?

So I got a 88.7 on my teas. So not like a super high grade. And as far as the personal statement I would try to emphasize why you want to be a nurse and why you believe you would be right for the profession. Also used it as a time to explain why maybe my grades at first were not the best. I think on NursingCAS they have prompts for the essay questions.

Thank you! So I actually submitted my app on the last day lol. So I don’t think that affects whether you get accepted or not.

ah ok, thank you! I was just worried that I didn't give enough time for all the verifications and things like that

I know fall is super competitive! UTHealth's summer deadline isn't until Jan 15th if you're interested in that cycle too! I haven't heard about St. Thomas until you mentioned it. I looked it up, is it the 3 year program that you're referring to or is there an accelerated one as well?

unfortunately St. Thomas does not have a traditional BSN program that is accelerated ? I believe they said that they only had an accelerated program for RN-BSN program.

This doesn’t directly relate to the fall 2020 program, so I apologize in advance! I know a lot of people commute and or get apartments near school, but has anyone gone through the process of selling a home to move for school? I feel like I’m in a bad situation either way! If I sell way before I apply, then I run the risk of not getting in. If I wait and try to sell once I get in, then I could be really pressed for time. Which Id much rather have the time to get settled before school since I’d be moving from Pennsylvania.

Hey you guys, what happens after we pay for and submit our NursingCAS application?
