Hello! I searched the site and seen no one made a topic about the people trying to enter in Fall 2013 so here is it I am applying to UTMB for Fall 2013. I've written my personal statement and filled in the application. Now i'm waiting on nursing CAS to receive all my transcripts and to take my TEAS test on Jan. 8. I'm so nervous. How is everyone else coming along?
Applying to nursing schools has been the worst! I have a bachelors already (anthropology) so I'm applying to UTMB's accelerated BSN program [as well as UTHSC (first choice), TWU, UTA, TA&M corpus'].Has anyone done an interview or know what to expect? I have absolutely no medical background so I'm worried that will work against me.
Thanks!
Interviews are a good thing. It means they want to know more about you. Don't be scared. Medical experience is not the entire focus of the interview. They want to see your communication skills and learn more about why you want to become a nurse. They could ask you some situational "what would you do if" type questions or ask for a writing sample. Make sure to bring questions for them too!
I really enjoyed my interview and I tell everyone that it is ultimately the reason I chose UTMB. I loved what I heard from the interviewer about the school and its faculty.
UTMB used to interview the majority of its qualified applicants, but starting this last semester, they only interview a small portion, so please don't stress about not being interviewed, it does not mean you're not getting accepted!
So will all of the correspondence from UTMB will come through the mail? Do they do anything by email? (I'm not very good at checking my "snail mail". I guess I'd better start! )
Mystar typically changes first (hooray for instant gratification!), then an email, and then you will receive an official letter via snail mail. On occasion, students got a letter in the mail before mystar changed for them.
Also- don't give up hope if people on this board have mystar changes or get their letter before you! When I was applying I was accepted two weeks after the first set of students and even more people were accepted after that. As for being waitlisted...there are a LOT of students in my class who were accepted right before orientation or even during the orientation who are now thriving in nursing school!
Will they accept general biology as your science elective?
Yes!

Thank you Jesus! UTMB extended their deadline to 2/15! I was so afraid NCAS wouldn't receive my transcripts in time, AND I'd already submitted my payment...I hope this is the last time I'll have to deal with them, their business is absolutely terrible and a rip-off, I can't believe they are using their services. Someone said something about a fee for the supplemental app UTMB sends out? How much will I have to pay for that??
