UTMB Fall 2012

Published

HI! I am applying for the traditional BSN program at UTMB that starts Fall 2012. I am taking my TEAS this friday and I wanted to know if anyone else here is applying for the same semester. Hopefully there are others so I don't have to be nervous alone!! :D

For the ones going to the interview, are you guys bringing any documents along? Or anything besides your Id?

For the people that had interviews today....How did it go? :)

I interviewed today. The Assistant Professor I interviewed with was very nice, welcoming, and friendly. The interview was only about 15 minutes long, and was more like a casual conversation. The email I received instructed me to show up at least 15 minutes prior to my interview time. Luckily, I was thirty minutes early because I was called in about 20 minutes before my scheduled time. Although, this may have been because I had already checked in and they knew I was there. She did mention that there were, I believe, about 800 applicants and that 110 would be accepted. She also mentioned that early admission was based not only on GPA and TEAS scores, but also on how many outstanding credits you had. She indicated that in order to have received early admission, you could not have more than 10 credits left to complete. In addition, she did confirm that the program will consist of four continuous semesters with no summer break.

I live in downtown Houston, and it took me an hour to reach the school, and about another 15 minutes to park and make my way to the office. From the time I arrived in the office, approximately 30 minutes before my scheduled interview time, to the time I got back to my car was about an hour total. Hope this helps.

Thank you Julianne! That was really helpful!

Julianne, Did you ask questions after your interview?

Hello,

I just joined! I also have an interview tomorrow, I am very excited! Best of luck to everyone who has interviews this week.

To those who have already interviewed:

Did you bring anything besides your ID?

Did they let you know when you may be hearing back on whether you have been accepted or not?

Oh and to those to asked earlier, I submited my application maybe a week before it was due.

I just interviewed this morning. You only need your ID. And they told me it would be at least 3-4 weeks before I heard anything but I have heard of it taking much much longer. The biggest piece of advice I can offer you is to relax. When they ask you a question take a deep breath and reflect on it for a moment if you need to. A well thought out answer is much better than a rushed one. Don't let your adrenaline get the best of you- SLOW DOWN. They want to see you succeed. So remember to be calm, be honest, and be prepared. Know why want to be a nurse etc. I highly recommend preparing an answer for that. It is a given that they will ask that. Practice saying it out loud several times- the more nervous you are the harder it is to answer well on the spot. Be prepared for a questions like that so you at least have that to comfort you. Just stay calm, be confident, and go in with the attitude that you CAN. It is more like a casual conversation than an interview and they are very nice.

Hello everyone!

I've been reading the posts and I've found them very helpful. I just had my interview on Monday. I interviewed with Dr. ******** and it was great! He was really good at making me feel relaxed and comfortable. It lasted about 30 min because we both kind of got off topic. But overall it went well (I hope). I've got a question, If accepted will anyone be living on campus? I don't plan on commuting since I live in Katy and thats like 78mi from Galveston. I know its doable but my car isn't in the greatest conditions.

Thanks and good luck to everyone else at your interviews. If you haven't recieved an invite, keep hope alive!

If I do get accepted I am deinately moving there, not sure on campus or off most likely off
