UTMB BSN Fall 09

I applied o UTMB and still anxiously waiting for a letter for intervciew. has anyone heard anything about the fall 09 application. Has anyone gotten interviews yet?

WOW! Congratulations! Really! I felt your anguish on the last thread! You will get through, if you are like me, all I need is a way in, and I will not let ANYTHING get me out. I'm sure it is going to be hard, but you WILL make it!!! The fact that we struggled with getting accepted and know how hard it is to get in gives us the motivation to NEVER let it go! I pray for an interview but I'm so nervous! I do not know what to say! They also say to ask questions but what kind of questions can I ask?!

Yes, I did see many people complaining of that in the last post, but I do not care at all! It's still a great school and its amazing that they are still open after all that in September!

Where else had you applied other than UTMB?

I applied to TWU, UTHSC, HBU and PVAMU. I got accepted to PVAMU and sent them all my information, but since I got a call from UTMB, I chose to go there instead. I need to let them know that I won't be attending.

Where all have you applied? It's always good to have a backup plan in case your number school isn't what you get.

I would have definitely done the same! Last year I applied to UT SON Houston, but I was not done with my prereqs so I really should not have applied lol. This year just UTMB and HBU, which is where I currently attend but I am not leaning toward because even though the school is great, the nursing program takes a lot longer than UTMB's and I will also be forced to take multiple courses I do not need simply because I need to full-time for grants and scholarships and since they do not offer all the nursing courses every semester. (You end up having to take others to fill your schedule.) UTMB is my and always was my choice school but I needed to go to a University to be able to receive financial aid still because I have over 90 hours and at a community college they take you off after that many...so I transfered to HBU last year. If I do not get in I will apply again for summer of 2010 and fall of 2010, but hopefully I will not have to! Their program is great from what I hear and short and straight to the point. No wasting money on courses you do not need!

hey guys!

i applied for the fall 2009 program and i just got an invitation for an interview!! does anyone know how the interview works? what should i look out for? please any info would be great! thanks!

how are you guys (the ones who got the invitation) preparing for the interview? i'm getting really nervous. when i made my appointment, the lady told me to dress nice, no jeans no tennis shoes...

Yes I am very nervous as well! It's amazing how so much can ride on just 30 minutes! LOL. Well, I'm scared to sound too reheorificed...and either way I have no idea what they will ask or what would be the answers they are looking for, but I believe I'm going for nursing for the good reasons so I hope that "speaking from the heart" will let them know why I'm there and why it would be a good reason to accept me. This and God. I will pray and pray! :)

Let me know if you hear any tips and I will do so as well though!

Those of you that got interview emails, CONGRATSSS!!! You are truly lucky to have gotten this opportunity. If you guys want tips on what questions they will ask, you can read our old forum, "UTMB Summer 2009 Applicants" since we had a lot of people give tips on there. Also, here are some questions I can remember people stated (remember, I did not get an interview so I don't have first hand experience). "Why do you want to attend UTMB, Why do you want to be a nurse, What is your backup plan if you do not get accepted to UTMB, and if you have any questions for them" Always always ask them questions as it tells them how interested you are in their school.

Secondly, for those of you that did not get an interview email, hang in there! Many people got letters way letter, and we had 2 people, including myself, that did not get an interview, but were called at the last minute to say that we were accepted. So do not be discouraged, it may happen for you!!

If you guys need any other help, let me know!! I am truly happy I made it this far and am happy to help anyone that needs advice! =)
