Kitcait, Some of us have gotten in with 4.0 GPA's...while others range from 3.6 and up :) I have 108 hours with a 3.73. I also took a CNA course last year and have experience in healthcare for the last four and a half years...I believe we all interviewed well, which was not too difficult to do since everyone at UTMB was so nice. For the last 3 semesters most of us did have 4.0's though...so like Nikomo said, it would be a good idea to make all A's from now on. All the people I have "met" that have gotten accepted have something "special" about them, along with good grades, heavy course loads over the semesters, and have awesome personalities (outgoing, VERY HELPFUL, kind, and witty). So attempt to show them what makes YOU special :) I was told that what they look for is "previous successes, pre-req GPA, healthcare experience, realistic expectations" -from the day I interviewed. Good luck! WE are ALL certainly lucky and blessed to have gotten in! And remember, keep trying, a lot of us had applied elsewhere before or during the same time, and had gotten "no's", but all you need is ONE "yes"!

Benaffleck, We basically just had to have all the pre-req's completed, or at least MOST of them to apply. Just make sure you meet the deadline and turn in all transcripts and your personal statement. The rest can be done after acceptance. It is also a good idea to meet a the pre-admission adviser so she can look over your transcript and give you an idea of what you need to do to get in. Yes, I know I felt the same way in the Spring! Our teacher was very good to us on grading though! Yall are lucky though, since we're already accepted all yall need is a C, we needed an A in it! Our first assignment was horrible, I heard yalls is better?

Hang in there guys (for those in Patho at SJC)! I hear it is structured the same way ours was in the spring, but much faster of course! I heard someone made a 98 (congrats K :) ) so it can be done guys! Read the chapters, do the essays first, oh and we also had a medical dictionary that we used for our class. Hang in there and it will be over soon!

Sorry for the late reply guys I could not get on my home computer to find the site until yesterday! I used PlagiarismDetect.com I gave this to Dr. Maurstad and she encouraged the class to use it. Two-man CPR is just CPR with two people present to provide care. Like in the case of one person doing CPR and one getting the AED, with the "second man" there ready to take over in case of extreme exhaustion. It is part of the BLS for Healthcare providers CPR.

Hey guys! Quizzes are easy, the are 10 questions, 10 minutes each and are not too bad. My lowest grade was an 80 on the quizzes, and wonderful Dr. Maurstad dropped the lowest quiz so it didn't even count! All my other quiz grades were 90's and 100's. Oh, and she also let us take the quizzes TWO times, so if you fail one miserably we were able to re-read and re-take, but the second grade counted higher or lower, so one time I got too greedy and I traded a 90 for that 80 LOL. Maybe yalls teacher has the same policy? I'm here if yall need any help with that class, well as far as my knowledge allows :)

Yes the Patho was online :) Well I did not apply to HBU, but since I was a student there and my major was "Nursing" the rank you and invite you to their program. I LOVED the school itself, however, the nursing department treated me horribly...I even cried one time... Everyone at the school was great, so kind and inviting. But every time I went for advising, I felt that I was wasting her time and that I was not...valuable? Can't choose the word, but they made me feel overall just BAD! And I'm a good student! Good grades! I'm friend (I think), and respectful! I do not know why the one certain person treated me so negatively...As far as price, yes it was expensive, but because it is a private school they offer a lot of aid if you are financially needy and if your grades are good...I had a renewing scholarship and a lot of aid so it wasn't too bad... Anyways, I visited UTMB, and was treated with respect, with value, was admired for my grades and accomplishments, and felt overall GOOD! I had no doubt that is where I wanted to be! Also, have yall seen some of the horror stories from there on this website? Its sad...

Oh and our test were an hour long each, and the essays would take me about 30 minutes themselves, so my class usually felt rushed for the rest of it. I am so excited about this Fall! I told Dr. Maurstad that I was accepted to both UTMB and HBU Nursing programs and that I chose UTMB, and she said she is glad I did because we will love it there at UTMB!

Yes, she said that she helped that teacher set up the online class so it might be the same for yall. They were MC, TF, matching, and essay. The essays were the main part of the tests. 3 Essays worth 10 points each. I will post the website when I get home I have it saved on Bookmarks (I am at work right now)!!! But yes its awesome, I use it for every paper, I don't want any surprises! :) Yall will do good guys, if I did then yall will too, we are all on the same boat together!

I checked before I submitted, so I revised it and changed it before I submitted. There is a website I use to check for plagiarism before I EVER turn in ANYTHING because I have known great students who fail and get and F in the class because the unintentionally plagiarized. Its best to check before submitting anything!

Oh and one more thing, DO NOT CHEAT, PLAGIARIZE, OR BE ANYWHERE NEAR THAT because you will get an F. Its scary but its happened before to people who didn't even know they were cheating. Only reason I'm mentioning this is because the tests were essay test and when we submit it checks for plagiarism. I have found what they consider to be plagiarism on my work before by checking through the plagiarism website, and it was actually my own words, but apparently, somewhere, sometime, something similar to mine was entered on some database so it popped up as plagiarism! I know we don't cheat, but sometimes it can be accidental!

Hey guys! I emailed Dr. Maurstad and she said that she helped Dr. Eilers set up her online course and that yall should enjoy it very much! I took it with her, and she was hard but GOOD and very NICE! READ every single chapter and study the notes if it is the same. Make sure you know clinical features, and focus mainly on the pathology since it is pathophysiology LOL, in other words, do not get hung up so much on normal functions. DO NOT MISS any quizzes or assignments and yall should be good! I made an A!
