I wanted to start a thread for those applying for UTMB's 2012 accelerated nursing program. The application is open April 1-July 15. I was told invites for interviews start after the application is closed and interviews start end July-August. Does anyone have any additional information? Has anyone applied before? Know of any interview questions? Please share everything you know!!!!!!!
Good luck to everyone
Hello there.. I'm a current bacc2 student at UTMB and wow.. this board brings back memories.
Question I wasn't expecting during the interview, "Tell me about your support system if you move to Galveston"
Other questions.. why nursing school, why UTMB, have you visited other schools, what in your background makes you think you'd be successful in nursing school, how do you plan to finance this, tell me about a time you solved a problem as part of a team
Lots of the students living on the island actually rent houses, or a floor of a house. I've heard the rent's pretty reasonable. There are on campus dorms that I believe are all singles. The Ferry road apartments are university owned. There are several apartment complexes within walking distance to campus between 5th street (Holiday) and 2nd street (Ferry)
depends what kind of class you take. There could be a classroom portion with an actual teacher/students or you could take the classroom portion online, but there is a physical skills portion in which you actually have to do CPR on an infant and an adult dummy. So no, that part's not online.
Keep me posted on the housing situation. Do you know a good website to look for local rents (not complexes)? I may need a roommate too! Hoping to put most of my belongings into storage somewhere and sell most of my furniture before moving to Texas.
Let me know how the interviews go. I have had to reschedule for sometime the next week.

Does anyone know if this can be completed online?
Required by the date of admission:
"BLS for Healthcare Providers - All applicants selected for admission must complete a BLS course for Healthcare Providers which covers infant, child, adult, and two-man CPR."
