Hello! So I had seen threads started for past classes and didn't see one yet for the Fall of 2014 class, so I figured I would start one. So let me introduce myself. My name is Will Long, I am a 27 years old male and I am applying for UTHSCSA's Traditional BSN program for the Fall of 2014. I have started my application and have signed up to take the TEAS test next Friday. I am pretty excited about finally being able to apply after finishing up all the pre-reqs. Anyways I was hoping this thread could be used a source of information and a place to ask each other questions throughout the application process. Anybody else out there applying? Have you already taken your TEAS test?

Herrington, I would start your application 4-6 weeks before the deadline. That will give you plenty of time to make sure everything gets in and you don't have any snags. From the time I sent in my transcript request form to when NursingCAS posted it on their site was about 10 days. The GPA calculations took NusingCAS about 2 weeks to complete.
Check this page out. It has all the immunization information.

Hey guys, I also have a question. Does UTHSCSA use the GPA calculated by NursCas or do they calculate it using a different method?
Also, on the website it states that they calculate the cumulative GPA (10%). I'm wondering if this includes all undergrad courses or just the pre-req courses... Does anyone know?

I had some similar concerns, as far as I know the cumulative takes into account everything you have ever taken in your college career, including repeated courses.
Thanks WlongTX for that...I seem to remember them mentioning something like that at the info session, but I was still a little hazy on it.
BoSongJang, I remember them saying that in-state tuition for the entire 2 years was around $19,000 (+ books), and that they said out-of-state was something like 3x as much...or something similar.
I need to attend another one of those sessions and actually take notes this time, haha.
$4750/semester
$19,009/total without books
You'll have plenty of time to complete immunizations after you find out if you're accepted. There's
really no need to do it yet. UTHSC accepts the 6 week accelerated HepA/HepB series for those
who still need it. It wouldn't hurt to obtain your immunization records, but again, there really
is plenty of time to get it done after you're accepted.
Hope this helps! :)

Hey guys...just wanted to poke my head back in here and ask a real quick question. How long did it take you, from the time you submitted your NursingCAS application, to the time you saw that your transcripts, references, GPAs were received/calculated? Like I said before, I'm not looking to apply to UTHSCSA for another year, but I figure I'll get some of this stuff out of the way now. Also, for that Hepatitis B immunization...4 to 6 months? That seems like a crazy long time to complete.
