UTHSCSA Traditional BSN Application Fall 14

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello! So I had seen threads started for past classes and didn't see one yet for the Fall of 2014 class, so I figured I would start one. So let me introduce myself. My name is Will Long, I am a 27 years old male and I am applying for UTHSCSA's Traditional BSN program for the Fall of 2014. I have started my application and have signed up to take the TEAS test next Friday. I am pretty excited about finally being able to apply after finishing up all the pre-reqs. Anyways I was hoping this thread could be used a source of information and a place to ask each other questions throughout the application process. Anybody else out there applying? Have you already taken your TEAS test?

I joined the group

Hi all, I'm a latecomer to the thread but just wanted to see who all is out here. I got accepted to the Fall program. At first it didn't seem real until I drove to campus to pay the seat deposit and sent off all the forms. This will be my second bachelors; so based on my first degree experience, the anxiety of "what have I gotten myself into" is starting to set in. Another challenge to conquer!

I'm really looking forward to meeting and working with everyone come August.

Hi!

I was wondering if you any of you guys know anyone that has gotten accepted into UTHSCSA traditional nursing progeam with the lowest GPA, lowest science and math GPA, and lowest TEAS?

I am currently attending a junior college and my GPA is a 2.7, i still have a year of pre reqs to make higher so im not that worried. I still have to take statistics, A&P 2, micro bio, and general chem 1&2 and others.

I made a C in A&P1 because i was sick a lot and it was hard to catch up.

but so far my grades are

General Bio- D

A&P1- C

English 1- B

English 2- B

GOVT TX- B

GOVT FEDERAL- B

Psychology- C

College algebra- A

Computer apps 1- B

Computer apps 2- A

= GPA 2.71

:( i know it isnt great yet but i am going to work on it! I am thinking of transferring to UTSA for fall 2014 also.

You may find others have posted their gpa's and stats in the previous comments; best of luck, nothing is impossible!

The school posts admission statistics (with average overall GPA, prereq GPA, and TEAS scores) on their website, but they don't list the score ranges. Overall GPA is only 10% of overall admission consideration, so your TEAS and prereq GPA can offset that.

And before transferring to UTSA, I'd look at class sizes. Nice thing about the community colleges is that their class sizes tend to be smaller and more personal. I don't know how big a UTSA class is, but one of my colleges had large lecture halls vs smaller classes, and it was annoying. On the other hand, the nursing school has the large lecture hall so you would already be exposed to it.

I was looking for tuition for the trad bsn and just wanted to be sure if i was understanding this correctly. Is the tuition total for 1 academic year really 5102$?

Not really...The tuition/fees for one semester (for TX residents) is about $4000/semester...The entire program is 4 semesters total for the Traditional BSN track...

Which college did you pick? If TLU, do you like it?
