I haven't seen a thread for the Health Science Center in San Antonio, so I decided to create one since I am curious as to when we will find out if we are accepted or not. I am very nervous! I really want to go to this school but I know a couple of people that didn't get accepted from previous terms that had a better GPA or a better TEAS V score than I do. I am praying!!!
Hello every one! So it's almost 5am yet I'm still wide awake reading current and previous threads. I'm so glad I found you guys.. I've been a total wreck over this the whole summer...I received my supplemental application, but I'm just not quite sure what to respond on the 1st essay question.. I don't have any work experience related to nursing and only a few amount of volunteer hrs, like 4hrs total, at the Univ Hospital..I don't think it's anything worth noting, I never got to volunteer after that due to military training. Anyone else in the same situation?
So I did the second and third questions first and then went back to the first one. I felt like I needed to reflect on what they might be looking for. Here is what I came up with in general:
-list all volunteer work, doesn't matter who, what, when, where, or why.
IT LOOKS GOOD ON RESUMES
-anything you feel strongly about. Example... I advocate for stronger standardizations for medical procedures (due to a nurse giving my stepmother the wrong dose of a medication which took her life) sorry had to put my little rant out there. (i'll tell y'all the full story on that one when we all get accepted.
-any charity work you might do that leads to women's shelters, volunteer fire dept. (since they are first responders), the needy,
-any charity work you have done that raises money that is donated to a group that might be directly or indirectly related to the nursing field.
-Have any of you assisted a daughter, son, mother, father, grandparent or friend after any surgery, or life changing event such as a death.
-volunteered at your children's school to help do eye exams.
-church-anything at church with bringing donations together, or food during holidays, group get togethers that bring others together to assist the needy.
ALL of these are some ideas.
Most of us don't have any medical work experience, so try to make everything you do in your life like it is directly related to something in the nursing field.
Hope this helps some of y'all.
Hey guys, quick question. On the residency questionnaire, are y'all printing the whole document out to sign the bottom and then scan all of the pages, or is there a shorter way to do this?
I thought about just printing the last page and sign it, but I then preferred to print the whole thing so I can save it as a single pdf document.
Hope that helps!
You can sign it electronically; use the Adobe "place signature" feature to take a picture of your signature with your laptop webcam
Thanks for that, acuriale! I had to do an update, but I think that is the easiest way to go.
Guys, my answers feel so short. But it said to just likit them to the space provided. I'm sure you guys had the same feeling too when answering them.
all I have left is the first question. And thanks to the poster on the page before for giving us some ideas on what to write about!
