U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everybody! :)

I'm applying to UTHSCSA for Spring '14 (Accelerated Program). Who else is applying to the program??

Has anyone else taken the TEAs Exam yet? I took mine earlier today

:nailbiting:

Melissa 1986. Can you explain about the text books and computers? I have heard the computers are not loaded with the books but only testing software. I have heard from various students about e books vs. paper books vs ati package. Can you explain hows ati and text books work? I would really appreciate any help you can give...

So the computers come with your normal operating software and microsoft office products pre-installed. The IT department has them set up and ready to go for you.

I hope i can explain the rest clearly:

If you choose ebooks instead of hard back books, you can either purchase your ebooks access code from the bookstore as a bundle or individual ebooks directly from the Evolve website ( Evolve.elsevier.com ). If you have ever bought any ebook online from amazon or google play store, its the same concept. When you log in to the evolve account, you have a digital library that stores all your ebooks in one place. You can access your ebooks from any device with internet access or you can download each ebook to up to 2 devices so you can use them even without internet. You do not have to use strictly ebooks OR hardback books.

You are required to purchase an ATI book set (paperback) which comes with online tools and electronic access to the books. This is for NCLEX preparation. You will take ATI proctored exams each semester on different subjects you are learning. The cost is split up across the 4 semesters, and you pay for this at the start of each semester out of pocket.

I hope i answered your questions fully. Let me know if i need to clarify anything.

Thanks for clearing that up melissa. BTW quick question do you know if accelerated student can apply for the MSN program?

I'm trying to study for a final right now :)

Zone 5 is what you get automatically unless you put yourself on the waitlist for another zone. Its several miles from campus and you have to take a shuttle, so if you are perpetually late like me, its not good. Zone 4 is decent, but Zone 3 is the best for the price in my opinion. The waitlists take FOREVER, so if you want to get out of Zone 5, I would first pick a zone that has the lowest waitlist number. I signed up for Zone 4 a week or 2 before orientation and got a spot quickly because of all of the May graduates leaving. I stupidly waited until July 1st to sign up for a Zone 3 Non-Reserved spot, and it took 10 months for me to get moved... I just got the new zone yesterday. I think I was #167 on the list in July.

The program is going great. I like it alot, but there are some classmates that don't like it because there are constant changes being made.

Hi,

I am from San Antonio as well and I am starting the process to enter the accelerated program for 2015. do you have any advice for studying for the TEAS? And what study guide did you use? And how is the pace of the program? Your help is very much appreciated.

I'm applying for the Spring 2015 Program as well. I just took my TEAs and made an 83.3% and my GPA is a 3.3. I wanted to know what my chances are to get into the accelerated program. For those who got accepted, would you mind sharing what TEAs score and GPA got you accepted?

Hi, I'm also applying for the summer 2015 program and started a thread for people applying over here if anyone wants to take discussion/questions over there :)

Also at the bottom of this page on the uthscsa website there are pdfs of student profiles including TEAS scores and GPAs.

I am getting ready to take the test next week. Can you add any incite as to what the test was like? Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

R.Ward

great stat.

good luck.

Can I ask you what your TEAS score was to get in? Also I am new to Texas so when you apply to UTHSCSA after you apply do they send you an invite to take the TEAS? I have been trying to register on the ATI website with no luck of UTHSCSA being on there to register. I have applied twice to schools in California with no avail and really looking for some pointers on what the schools in Texas are looking for. I have a B.S. in Sales and Marketing and have been working in healthcare field for over 5 years, three of those in hospice and I can't wait to become a nurse and help our patients more. Any help is appreciated!!!
