I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!
I think they want us to send them in earlier, so that they can review them even if were not done with all are pre reqs. I won't be finished until this fall 2013 but I'm going to send them a copy of my official even though its not complete. I think you can apply without sending it as long as you send it in before the deadline, because remember at the info session they said that some people wait until the very last day of the deadline to bring everything in all at once. They just won't answer any of your questions until they have an official transcript to go off of. They said you can re send a new one in after you finish each class to keep them updated. Hope that helps, I know its stressful just applying, but it will be a good kind of stress when were finally in the program! :)
Hey ladies! My name is Kristin and I am also applying to the Spring (and summer) semester at UTHSC. I have a BS from Texas A&M but am still missing some pre-reqs so I am taking them this summer from HCC (and two in the fall). I have a question though! I am trying to register for the HESI A2 through the prometric website and want to make sure that I am choosing the correct assessment. It is listed as "RN Admission Assessment with Critical Thinking version 1". Is that what you guys signed up for? I think I am going to take it in late June because I haven't had A&P in a long time (like 6 years) and want to study a lot for the test. I am also using the Fundamentals book to get ready for the critical thinking portion. I'm just so nervous because I know the program is really competitive.
Yes you're correct on the Hesi! If you haven't taken the classes for awhile I'd suggest the Hesi practice admissions assessment book! I got it at Barnes and noble. (Sorry if you said you had the book, I'm on my phone and skimming). I'm currently taking my sciences and the hesi book shows me exactly what I need to go over again. And the fundamentals book is good as well, I'm pretty sure it's the only book I've heard of to look over for the critical thinking. I went to the info session last Thursday so if you have any questions about applying I might have an answer from them!:) I'm rooting for spring entry but if I don't get in ill try for summer...I heard its easier to get into spring so fingers crossed!!
Well I'm definitely studying the heck out of that fundamentals book! I'd love to hear from you ladies after you take the test, especially about the critical thinking part because that's what I'm worried about the most. I'm also about to get very busy with two mini mester courses so I doubt I'll have much time to study for the hesi when those start.
I believe the other girls are taking late May, but I am taking late June. Fefe - are you applying for the Spring? The application is due August 15th, and I think HESI scores have to be at the school by that date. When I registered with Elsevier, it only gave me the option to register through June 30th, so that's when I'm taking it.
