UTHSC-Houston Spring 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi,

I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.

Thanks for your comments

Hi all I received my acceptance email Oct 18th and I also thought they were sending out denials first, I am so happy to have gotten in. My email with attachments and instructions was in my spam. So just in case someone of you didn't check. My last name starts with a W. If there is a facebook page pls let me know thx :)

Congrats on your acceptance! :)

Hey congrats on your acceptance :) Can you share what your stats were? and if you retook classes.

Thx :)

I tried to send you the link but it says you have chosen not to recieve messages :/

Hey everyone. I got an acceptance email last Thursday as well but I am declining because I have already accepted to UTMB. That's one more spot that will be available for someone else. Good luck to all!

So I just started an account after looking at this site for a while and wanted to maybe give some people some idea of the grades they are accepting. I got accepted on the 18th and my pre-req GPA was a 3.56, overall GPA 3.49, science GPA 3.75, Hesi 92 overall, Critical thinking 870. I hope this gives some people hope, and just so you know I have been rejected before from UTA and I just want everyone who has not heard yet or has been given bad news just to keep your head up. I was crushed my first time, but it made me aware of the things I needed to do. Broaden your application pool, make A's in your classes even if you think they are dumb. In the end you are just improving yourself and no one can take your education away. I hope this helps someone. I wish all of you the best of luck, and look forward to joining you at school.

@conner.francis. My pre-req gpa is 3.56 exactly. My science gpa is 4.0 but my overall is 3.2. I was kind of worried but you give me hope. Congrats on your acceptance and I hope to join all of you also. Good luck everyone!

At the info session, they claimed to not look at overall, so you shouldn't have to worry about that one.

I've been stalking this thread for months now and decided to finally join. I am one of the yellow triangles hoping for that green check. My stats are: nursing pre req's 3.833, science gpa 3.75, HESI 94, and critical thinking 850. Congratulations to all that have already been accepted. I am crossing my fingers I will be able to join you.

It looks like we all have very similar stats...I have a 93 on HESI, 4.0 Science, 850 Critical....pre req is what is going to kill me at 3.5....my first degree was a low GPA because I did not care 20 years ago....but the 34 hours I took over last year and a half I got a 4.0....hopefully they will consider that.....so nervous.

The Junior League of Houston offers free CPR classes. CPR. You need the Healthcare Provider class.

The most popular times (i.e., Saturday) are difficult to get. Registration opens a month in advance. For example, registration for the November 10 class opened on October 10 at midnight. If you want a Saturday class, you should be up at midnight. The classes that run on two evenings don't fill up quite as quickly.

it looks like there's two different courses. Are they for the same type of certification? The healthcare provider course looks like it's for a BLS certification - which is the one UTHSC requires and the heartsaver course looks like it's for a heartsaver AED certification.

Hmm... or is the heartsaver course a combination of BLS and AED certification?
