UTHSC-Houston Spring 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi,

I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.

Thanks for your comments

Hey all!

I am not too familiar with UT HSC program...

I was wondering if UT-HSC nursing program was extremely competitive?

And is the HESI good just as long as you made a 75% and above in all sections or is that heavily weighted??

I have a 3.75 Science GPA and a 3.5 Overall....

According to previous stats on this forum, those who got accepted normally carry HESI score more than 90%

@Jjrr - Thanks!

Stacymonique, no worries! I think the whole process in general scares me even more than moving to Libya for 3 years did!! I have not taken my HESI yet, but I have scheduled a test date and have started studying. I will have A&P I out of the way after the first summer session and I have Chemistry, so that should give me enough for the 8. I plan to take A&P II and Micro in the fall. I take it after that I can just submit another transcript with those classes completed. Thanks for the info! It definitely helps.

Yea, you just keep submitting transcripts until you have finished all your classes. I am finishing up this semester and will have summer classes so i will just send a transcript at the end of the summer since it is still before the deadline.

Hi All!

I am new to this website as well, even though for about the last two hours i have been reading post constantly. I will be honest discovering this website has made me feel a lot more pressure then i did before. The fact that some people who applied to the Spring 2012 Ut Houston program and were not accepted with 4.0 literally terrifies me. Also seeing previous post stating that the school might consider age, is kind of terrifying because i am definitely one of the younger ones.I am applying to the BSN program for the spring 2013 semester i only have one semester left at the community college i attend. I just hope my stats are good enough to get me accepted! It's only the end of April and i'm already stressing so much about getting a denial letter in november....

Well thats enough of me throwing out my fears, i just thought i'd put them out their because i'm sure many others feel the same way.

I'll just put my stats out their as well

Nursing GPA 3.6

Science GPA 4.0

Won't take my Hesi Exam until the end of May

.

Good luck to everyone, it's definitely going to be a long adventure

Awesome! That is my plan for the moment and I'm sticking to it!

@testthebest, I agree with you completely about this website!! I had a friend tell me to join this website and after I did.... I felt a lot more pressure than I did before! Don't get me wrong, there are great people on here with a lot of great info, but it does make it scary and puts the pressure on even more!! One thing that I notice though, is the fact that it does seem like you just never know what UTHSC is accepting as far as an applicant. Especially after reading post back from 2008-2009 up until recently. I think you definitely have to keep your grades up and score as high you possibly can on the HESI so that you can just put your best foot forward.

Good luck and all the best!!

Good morning all! I'm slightly confused about the program that starts in January. Is this traditional BSN program (4 Semesters to complete) at UTHSC a full time 2 year program, excluding summers? I know the BACC2 is accelerated so you can finish in 1 year or 15 months, but I was unsure of the traditional program.

Thanks!

I think you can take courses in the summer, so that the program can be completed in spring 2014.

How is everyone doing?? Haven't seen any recent news from you guys... I started my application online and have just saved it. I'm requesting transcripts to be sent after this spring semester is over and as soon as I have taken my HESI. Trying get this process started.

Hope everyone is doing well! ;)

I think I read somewhere on the UT website that the regular BSN starting in Spring is 21 months long...it does include summers.

Wow, that is a little bit longer than I would like to go to school... I guess I will apply to both, but would really like to do the BACC2 program since I already have a degree from Texas A&M.
