There is a another thread on this website about the UTHSC Spring 2014 semester. The Accelerated program is the same thing as the Traditional program. Trying to figure out all the verbage can be confusing. The name of the thread is UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014. There is a bunch of people on this thread...21 pages of comments. I have applied for Spring 2014 too! I'm so anxious to find out if I made it into the program. So I guess, everyone on this thread has taken the HESI? What is ya'lls take on the UTMB program...the TEAS?

HI, I am applying to "UTH"...hahha, better than stating all that UTHSC-Houston.
I am applying for their accel BSN program for Summ 2014.
Will take HEsi in 2 weeks. The one i took prior was for UTA Arlington missing the Critical thinking component....so i have to take it all over again...hahaha,.....why cant they just be on the same page (like TEAS).
@arobbins,
HI, i am also applying to UTMB and will be taking the TEAS next week. Well, Hesi was easy....because math had a calculator. TEAS will not....so that will make it some what tougher for me
I have heard TEAS is harder than Hesi.....so dont really know what to tell you until i get it done myself.
What exactly is the critical thinking section? I did not see that in the section of the hesi book that i have.
Anyone care to explain about it and how to prepare for it?
THANKS :)

You are not going to find anything in the HESI book. The Critical Thinking portion is meant to test your working knowledge of nursing...scenario type questions. Most of them are common sense. An example would be like if you are working in an ER and you have several patients. One patient is complaining of a possible broken arm and another complains of shortness of breath and their arm going numb. How would you treat this situation? Another is like you have to administer a shot of something to a young child, about 5 or 6 years old. How would you approach the child? Of course all of the situations are multiple choice. I didn't prepare for that portion and I made a 940. If you think about the scenario from all aspects - the patient's, parents, doctors, you should do OK. Good luck!
@arobbins: Thanks for the advice and examples. This does make me feel A LOT better !! So sad that UTA Arlington does not have that component on its exam....i already took the hesi but lacked CT, so now have to do it again...hahha.
Good to know what i will face....so appreciate the heads up. :)
