UTHealth Cizik Summer 2022 - BSN

Published

Hello everyone!

I've been looking around for a UTH - Pacesetter BSN forum for Summer 2022; haven't found one so I'm going to start one here! This forum is for anyone applying for or just curious about the Summer 2022 application cycle (deadline Jan 15th, 2021). If anyone has any questions, concerns, worries, or anything they'd like to share during the process then you've found the right place! We're here to help each other out. Best of luck!

Hey guys! I am also applying for the Cizik Pacesetter and I have a question. I applied for Spring 2022 and took the HESI Version 1, but I got denied. So I'm reapplying for Summer 2022, and I was wondering if anyone knows if I am supposed to take HESI Version 1 or HESI Version 2 for Summer 2022? Thanks!

If you’re satisfied with your score, you don’t need to take it again to reapply. If you take it again for a higher score, then yes you will need to take version 2.

Hi all,

I applied for the Summer 2022 admission. My prereqs GPA is 3.96 and I got a cumulative 94% for HESI, BUTT I didn't meet the 85% recommended score for the reading section. What do you guys think of my chance getting accepted? I already took both HESI versions sooo.... feeling pretty discourage.

Hi, everyone!

I applied to UT for Summer 22! I’m a little late with applying but I just took my HESI today and got a 90 overall but an 84 in anatomy and vocab. /: I know this program is super competitive. Should I retake my exam and/or try applying to other places?

TIA!

Hi there!

Applied for the 2022 Summer pacesetter program (May 2022).
My GPA is 3.81, and HESI average 88% (I did have 2 sections that came up at 84 & 82 - grammar and vocabulary).
I know that it's really out of my hands now, but I'm curious about interviews and experience - do they take that into account or is it just based on scores only?
Also, when do they typically send acceptance/denial letters?

Would love to hear your thoughts...

This is what they post on their website.
“Applicants will be evaluated on overall academic, prerequisite and science course performance in addition to the results from the HESI A2 Entrance Exam. All decisions are final and cannot be appealed.”

Based on previous semesters, admitted students kind of vary so no one knows exactly how they choose candidates. Some students have experience, others don’t. UTH also does not do essay or interviews. For Summer application, we will find out admitted status by April 15th (on their website). But that means mid-March/end of March, admitted students would get notified first. And then they will go through accept/denial offers, and continue to offer more acceptances. Then they will send out all denials. This timeline is based on previous semesters too.

There is always a chance it’s good enough, but 84 in anatomy is kind of low for nursing programs. UTh recommends 85% or higher in all subjects. Nursing programs also prefer higher score for Anatomy on the HESI and the actual course.

Hello!

I applied last month with my stats being:

Overall GPA: 3.95

Science GPA: 4.0

HESI: 92%

I applied for Spring 2022 but got rejected so this will be my second time applying. I met the requirements for the last term but unfortunately did not get selected. I had to retake the HESI at the beginning of last month since I had an 80 in vocab and they changed it to 85 in each category starting the Summer app. I know they go based on a lottery system from what I've heard. Hopefully this time I will get lucky.

This may be a dumb question, but how is everyone calculating their overall GPA? Is it simply just from looking at all your transcripts and manually inputting them on some GPA-generating website? And if so, how do you know if UT has calculated the same GPA score weight that you did?

Did you have the same overall and science GPA when you had applied the first time around? If so, that is so crazy that you got rejected based on those stats! Makes me even more nervous.

Your science GPA is the average of A&P 1 and 2, Chemistry, and Micro while the overall GPA is the average all of the prereqs (including the sciences you took). For the overall GPA, I was able to find it on my student portal account under my academic records, so I didn’t have to calculate anything.

I did have about the same stats when I applied. However, I was taking my last prereq in the fall semester, which was an elective class. As of this application, I have all the prereqs done (I have no idea if it increases the chances of getting accepted). It is a lottery system from what I’ve heard. I’ve looked at other forums with people who have been rejected with a 4.0 and a 94-96 on the HESI while the ones accepted have a 90-92 on the HESI and have a 3.7-3.8 overall GPA. A student who was accepted to the Summer term last year said that around 700 students applied and 130 were chosen. It may be less this term because of the new admission requirements, but it makes it even more competitive than before. I’m just as scared also, but don’t give up hope and best of luck to you!

So I didn't see the new requirements have changed. I allready have taken the HESI twice and in my Grammar I scored below the 85%. In the 70's to be more specific. Does this mean I can never apply to this school again?

You can take the HESI with another school code, and then transfer transcript to UTHEALTH after.
