UTH Cizik School of Nursing BSN Pacesetter- Spring 2020
Updated: Published
I thought I'd start this feed now. I applied in January. I know I'm early but I'm not much of a procrastinator. I just retook my Hesi and got a 89.2.. I feel I need to take it over but, some people are saying they don't even know UT's selection process. Can anyone enlighten me on that?

I live right across student housing actually! Student housing seems great and I've visited it a few times. The only issue is that they prioritize UTH medical school and dentistry student over nursing students. I'm applying but the chances of me staying on the waiting list is bigger. Really any apartment complex on El Paseo st. is great since it is near THREE UTH bus shuttles (free ride to school basically). Mine is Daphne Apartment and there is more complexes down the street.
I am feeling so discouraged. I don't have the best grades.
I earned my bachelor in Nutrition from UH spring 2018. However, I just retook microbio, A&P 1 and 2, I am taking intro to chem bc I originally made a C in gen chem back in the day during freshman year. I decided to take intro to chem since it counts as a prerequisite.
I know all the retakes seem bad but I improved towards the end while at UH and earned an A in organic chemistry after my C in gen chem from a cc. I grew stronger towards the end of my bachelors and earned strong grades in upper level bio courses. but, I am afraid UTHealth will see my retake grades and would prefer someone who did well the first time around.
I was immature when I started college, did not understand how to properly study but I did improve and I know I could do really well in nursing school. I just hope I am considered.

Hey! We are all scared, one minute I’m confident I’ll get in the other minute I’m looking for loopholes and reasons why I’m not qualified, but honestly I just leave it all to God if it’s meant to be it will be, we are all destined for something great and one way or the other we are going to fulfill it. So let’s just pray/hope for the best and not let this this decision dictate our lives and cause us to think lowly of ourselves . I wish you good luck.
I know this thread is for spring 2020, but I've decided to apply for the summer and had a question about prerequisites. What kinds of courses have you guys taken to satisfy the 5 credits of electives? I majored in nutrition and was wondering if those upper level nutrition courses count towards those? I would appreciate any type of info anyone has!

They will use any course that isn't used for the rest of the prereqs as your electives and they will use your highest grade courses. If you got As in your upper level nutrition courses they will use those. Good luck ?

Why not email an unofficial transcript to someone at the Registrars' office? He or she will look at it and tell you the courses that meets the elective requirements. At least, that's what I did. Good luck!

That may or may not work. I have been emailing the registrar and the general info email for MONTHS with no answer ? Seems like others haven't had luck either!

I’ve had no replies with a lot of programs when I try to ask questions, which I understand because they must have a lot of inquiries everyday. But that’s kind of why I stopped trying to reach out for questions. I’ll give it a shot though!

Hi! They take any credits from your transcript that have A’s which were not part of the prerequisite courses. Since I was a genetics major they took my genetics electives.
As for contacting them, I too have tried contacting them with questions but I’ve never gotten a response like many others...

That makes sense, thank you so much! ?

I believe we have clinicals every semester per certain classes that require it. S2 is mainly clinicals. During J1 we have Adult Care1 clinicals starting this Thursday actually. It is once a week (thurs, fri, or sat) for 6 weeks.
