UTA Spring 2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hello everyone! Just wanted to start this thread for anyone planning on attending UTA's nursing program in the Spring of 2013.....

I am working on the last of my pre-reqs right now at TCC, but I plan on attending UTA this fall to take Intro to Nursing, Patho, and Pharm... Anyone in the same boat???

joining in with you guys too! waitlisted for the campus program for fall 2012...i emailed my advisor about it and this is what she has to say about being waitlisted...

i know it’s frustrating to be on the waitlist as you’re

trying to make these important decisions. it depends on how many accepted

students accept the offer of admission. they will be letting us know by early

may, so that is when students will start to be called up from the waitlist.

so for everyone applying for spring 2013, i can truly say that uta looks at the considerations very seriously and i think makes the decisions primarily on that. good luck to everyone! if i don't see you in the fall, hope to see you in spring!

hey everyone!! i am copying some things that i asked in the fall 2012 group to see if you all have any input :)

ok so a few questions!

does anyone actually know how the waitlist works? it seems like there are a lot of people on the wait list and surely they can't expect all of us to have a shot at getting called. it also seems to me (and i may be completely wrong!) that pretty much everyone who was partnered and not accepted was put on the waitlist. does the wait list depend on where we are partnered? meaning if someone who works at baylor for example doesn't accept, does the next person in line from baylor (on the waitlist) get the spot or would it go to the next person on the waitlist regardless of where or if they are partnered?

do yall have any idea how many people are on the waitlist? or about how many get called each semester?

also, when is orientation? i'm only asking since they said after orientation we won't be called off the waitlist.

my advisor today told me that she has not been told a "set date on when wait list offers will go out or end". are some people waitlisted because they haven't completed their pre-recs?

sorry for allllll of the questions! just some thoughts! :)

hope you are all having a great day!

wow! thank you so much for everyone's responses! i'm trying to understand all of this! on our letters we received with the email, i noticed that some hospitals are grouped together (like jps/cook childrens or parkland/dallas childrens), does this mean that if you are partnered with one of these hospitals you are "competing" with applicants from both? like will they take 10 overall from parkland/dallas childrens or is it 5 from one and 5 from the other?

thank you all so much!

@rubyredd83 - That does not make me feel good @ all! I have no considerations! :uhoh21:

As far as I know, if you are partnered with Baylor, means that you are competing with ALL Baylor Health Care System employess.

Waitlisted for the traidtional program in Fall 2012. Figured I should go ahead and join this one... I don't think I can handle possibly waiting all the way until August for them to tell me I didn't make it in. I am just praying they call me soon. I am meeting with my advsior a week from today and am going to have them explain to me FULLY how the whole ranking system works.

I hope you get something out of them and share with us :)! Their ranking system is always a mystery to me lol.

For those of you that got waitlisted for the traditional on-campus BSN program: Do you mind posting your stats? I know it will be different each application period but I was just curious. I was thinking I had a real good chance but I calculated by GPA higher than it actually was due to UTA's program not utilizing all of my prereqs that I've taken. So now my over-all GPA when I apply for Spring will be 3.5 with a 4.0 in my sciences and 94% Hesi. When I talked to my advisor, she said that the cut off over-all GPA is generally around 3.5 due to the competition of all the other applicants. So, now I'm worried because I'm right there and will definitely be applying to other schools as back-up!

94 hesi, 3.76 overall, 3.5 science. I am partnered with thr and next app period I will have over 30 hours at UTA. I am hoping that will help me off the waitlist!

I got wailisted for the Fall with 4.0/3.7 no considerations. I researched around and found out the cut-off GPA is usually 4.0/3.7, if u have considerations it can be lower... You need to have backup plan as I did!

Ok, now I'm depressed!! @thomasphan, I can't believe you got waitlisted with those stats!

@Megreen, at least you have some considerations, I have none! This whole process is so stressful, I want to be a nurse more than anything, I've been a medical assistant for 5 years and have worked below my capabilities. I finally decided to take a leap of faith and put my family through many sacrifices for me to be able to continue my education. I knew it wouldn't be an easy road to journey but I never imagined all the obstacles! All I can do is keep my faith that I will be led down the right path. :bowingpur (this is me praying, please let me get into UTA!)

I was put on the waiting list for the fall with a 4.0/3.86 and no considerations. I wish our advisors would be a little more helpful in explaining exactly how the ranking process works.

@nici0513, UTA is not the only road to become a nurse :)! I think should explore other universities or colleges too. I think your stat could help you to get into an ADN program easily.
