UTA Spring 2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hello everyone! Just wanted to start this thread for anyone planning on attending UTA's nursing program in the Spring of 2013.....

I am working on the last of my pre-reqs right now at TCC, but I plan on attending UTA this fall to take Intro to Nursing, Patho, and Pharm... Anyone in the same boat???

txhopeful12 - I think I misread one of your posts:wacky:

No, I wasn't partnered before.

I see now - I think I misread one of your posts:wacky:

I really hope they send out emails this week! I have been checking my email every morning. Is the email going to be from our advisor or UTA nursing in general? I'm so nervous!:nailbiting:

The email will probably come from the Admin in the College of Nursing Office. That's what happened for the Fall application period - and it was at 5pm on Friday. I think that saves them from being inundated with phone calls, lol!;)

I emailed my adviser looking for hints...I also lightheartedly slipped in the comment about my partnership nightmares like it was a joke and not at all keeping me up at night :scrying:

Hello,

i just applied to go there in spring but i want to see how many of my credits actually transfer if i have to take a ton of gen ed classes i will probably look else where... do you know how long it takes for them to get back to you about it?

@Sweetlilwolf

I think you're going to have to do a transfer evaluation. I dont think that would take very long...If you took the credits in texas, texas has a 'common code', so if you took English 1301 somewhere else in Texas, it will be almost identical to a class at UTA named English 1301. If they have the same numbers, it wont take long to evaluate.

@ Sweetlilworlf - txhopeful is right....UTA will do a Transfer Evaluation and will give you a summary of classes that transfer and ones that you will need to take, based on your transcripts. It should be pretty straight forward if your classes were taken in TX. If you have taken classes out of state (like me), then it is a little more difficult and you may have to "prove" that the courses are equivalent to get credit by providing syllabus info. This would be done AFTER the evaluation is completed by an advisor. If you have been accepted to UTA, then you should've been assigned an advisor. I would start by contacting that person.

Hope this helps!:)

Today is the 10th!!! The day of the "meeting" although I don't know why they needed to have a meeting when decisions were supposedly made on the 1st lol!!! Here's hoping that emails go out on Friday!!! (not holding my breath, of course!)

nikkib376 - I have a good feeling that the email will be sent on Friday:) It will be the 12th - pretty much "mid-Oct", they can't make us wait longer than that, can they!? I emailed my advisor on Monday and still haven't heard back - guessing he was preparing for this "meeting". UGH! Don't they realize how agonizing all this waiting is! It's making me have OCD - constantly checking allnurses and MavMail, LOL:sarcastic:

So I heard back from my adviser this morning. I guess my partnership nightmare joke was too subtle a hint, because she didn't mention it. She did say this....' All qualified applicants for the Spring 2013 start date of the upper division AP BSN and campus-based BSN programs will be notified of whether or not they were admitted to the program via Mavs email by the end of October. Please feel welcome to email me if you have any more questions'I'm hoping that's just the stock answer and we find out on Friday. Kind of like when waitresses tell you your table will be ready in 15 minutes;it'll probably be ready in 5, but say 15 just in case....

What a joke! I don't understand why they have to be so secretive about it - I am sure they know by now and have it all planned out when they will send the email.....grrrrr......frustrating!
