UTA PMHNP FALL 2021

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone,

I applied for the PMHNP program at UTA for Fall 2021 back in February and I wanted to see who else has applied. I graduated with my BSN from UTA in 2018 so I'm hoping that increases my chances of being accepted. I know that the deadline to apply is in May so hopefully we'll have more information soon. Who else has applied? I'm looking forward to starting this new journey as I am claiming acceptance!

I was previously told 6 hours is full time but it was 9 hours for my BSN program.  I'm not exactly sure which is true. Six hours just doent seem right but I don't know.

If full time takes 3 years to complete then it makes sense. UT Tyler PMHNP program is 9 hrs per semester and it’s 2 years long

I guess I didn't consider the 3 yrs and in that case 6 hours does make sense. I hope to go full time but I was told that many students go back and forth between full and part time. I guess it depends on life.

Do you how many credits per semester? I am wondering if working full time would be feasible?

I think we decide how we want to take the classes but I did upload the course list. From what I heard, students go back between full-time and part-time. I'm hoping to go full-time but I'm not working full-time. It may be feasible.  I'm sure someone or many people have done it.

Yeah, I saw the course list. Nursing Theories, Nursing Research, and EBP classes seem unnecessary. They were part of the UTA RN-to-BSN. But I guess repetition is the mother of learning LOL

Hi everyone! I applied to this program earlier this month, and I just received an email asking for me to send in a resume. I'm really hoping to hear something soon!

Hi Jbreezie, I hope we'll hear something soon. I've been getting an email everyday this week saying the my app was forwarded to the graduate advisor. ? I really hate the waiting game but I am optimistic.

I literally just got an email saying that I was accepted into the program!!! At 1am... wow! I'm so happy!! Virtual Orientation is 7/27/21. OMG!

Congratulations! I got my acceptance email too. Does yours say “campus-based MSN NP Program” as well?

Thank you and congratulations to you too! Yes, mine said the same thing. The program is campus based so it's correct but I thought it would say something about psych. I believe we'll start with other NP classes and then branch of into psych.

Congratulations to both of you! I did not receive an email, so here's hoping the rest of us get ours next week!

Thank you so much Jbreezie! You just applied recently so maybe they're still processing your app. I applied Feb 10th so it's been a while for me. Just hold on!

Hey there,

Happy for you who are starting this Fall! I am applying for Spring, and am not sure the essay is required. I only see on the Apply Texas website stating if the Degree is in education, to provide an essay, then "College of Nursing applicants are not required to submit the Academic Goals Essay."

Did all of you submit one? My application has been submitted, and the deadline is the end of the week, so hoping for some clarity!  TIA!
