UTA FALL 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Hey all, I thought I would set up a place to discuss the next application period for UTA's Fall 2012 nursing program. There was so much info in the Spring 2012 forum, thought it might be helpful to start a new thread...

Post away!

Hello again! Well I am partnered at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. I am nervous about getting into the program looking at some of the GPA's posted I am embarrassed to post mines...lol! My science GPA IS 3.1, pre reqs GPA is 3.2, HESI scores was a 300 exactly, so I barely made it. My advisor said the HESI is just a pass or fail. Considering I've been out of college for 10 yrs now, and didn't study at all for the HESI, I did better than expected. I think I have 2 considerations because I have a BS in Biology and is parterned at Parkland Hospital. My advisor told me they save 10 spots for Parkland employees, and we are only competing with other employees. So we are are in a pool by ourselves per my advisor. I'm not quite sure how many from my hospital applied to the program, but i am praying my GPA is good enough. I didn't apply to the traditional program, because I didn't know about it. so I guess I put all my eggs in the basket with UTA:-( Is anyone on here working at Parkland that applied for Fall '12? What do you think my chances are in getting into the program? I am taking intro to Nursing and Technical Writing both on April 9th, and I have Path and Pharm in my shopping cart waiting to enroll on the 4th for the May 14th classes, then I'll be done with my pre reqs. Thank you guys and good luck to all that applied, hope to meet you guys soon. I'M CLAIMING IT ALL IN JESUS NAME, AMEN!!!

You shoud ask your advisor how many spots they have for THR! No on will tell me including our THR rep and my advisor! To be honest I know some people at THR that have simular stats as you and got in. Your stats are not bad at all just not perfect! Mine are not either. I too put all my eggs in one basket! I have been stressing about that lately....I don't handle rejection well either! LOL

Hey all, I am getting so nervous! I really can't say which way I want to be notified...email or letter? I am scared either way! So, I asked my advisor how the partnership works with the hospital. She stated that I would need to verify with THR's human resource dept. to see if the position I interviewed with is a partnership position. I had no idea I should be doing this. I contacted who I hope is the right person to find this info out and left a message today. Do any of you know how that process works? Anyone know the person from THR I should be contacting?

I will ask around, but when UTA cameto my job they said 10 from each partner hospital, and they add more each semester. That was in 2009 I believe. Have you taken Path and Pharm yet?

Ruby, don't know of noone that works at THR, but I wish you much luck! I'm still confused about the entire selection process, so I have tons of questions!

Rubyredd, that is how my advisor explained it also and it makes no sense. When I've talked to the AP contact at THR she never said anything like that and I am going to listen to her. I am so curious about how many spots there are too! I've heard several different numbers so it's annoying!

I applied to UTA BSN program, I am a LVN with a four year degree in Criminal Justice. My goal is either NP or CRNA. I made all A and B in LVN schooll. I applied to UTA and they said for me to retake tech writing and micro. I am applying to el centro FALL 2012 bridge. I have been out of school three years and tired of applying over and over.

Hey everyone, I just checked on MyMav and we can enroll for Summer for dynamic dated session starting on April 2nd so I went in and it showed both Pharm and Patho open now. Just thought I would share since I know some of you asked about it earlier last week.

Thanks for Info I got regsitered! I am taking Pharm now and Patho over the summer. I wonder how many they add each year?? This is nerve racking! Can they just tell us laready!

Welcome Sxblair. So your doing the traditional? or the partnership...

Probly traditional or depending if I get my RN first and work at a hospital that partners with UTA. I currently do case management work for a housecall company.

Rubyredd83,

I'm just getting the hang of the site so I hope this works properly. I am almost sick right now reading your message because I am in almost the exact same boat. UTA student, recently hired at THR for prn admin in the ER and I thought it was far too late to make that amendment. May I please ask...do you know what we need to turn in to our advisors once we have the job to be considered partnered? Also, did she mention at all how long we had to get the info in? I applied to both programs but I want AP so badly that I may continue quickly and get my masters. The idea of an extra year that is unnecessary is so defeating. Please tell me any info what so ever that you have! I would be so grateful! Also, do you mind if I ask what your stats are when you applied?

Thank you so much!

Hey everyone! My interview went well today. I didn't get to meet with Phyllis but I met with the supervisors and they were all very nice. I applied for FA and they said they will start awarding April 9th I believe. Also, I emailed my advisor today to see if it was too late to be considered for the partnership for Fall if I happened to get hired at THR, she replied and said that it was getting down to the wire and that I would need to let her know as soon as possible if I get hired on. So, that makes me think they will be making decisions soon and mailing out letters.
