Am applying to UT tyler nursing program for spring 2015. Anyone else applying? Feel free to post comments.
LW, I also take notes by hand. I'm old school!! The computer comes in handy if I need to go to the library and "google" my notes! Otherwise, I just use the desktop at home. All of the purchases are certainly going to take a hit on our wallets! I think I'll get ID and parking pass after Thanksgiving break. I have not received the blue card yet.
How do You got your nursing ID? I haven't get anything. My financial aid is stuck. I did got my blue card.
magnis472,
You just go to the cashier's desk at UT Tyler. Note, that you must be already registered for classes before you can get the IDs. You will receive two IDs, UT Tyler and College of Nursing. The UT one is free, and the nursing badge is $5. While you are there, I would pay for the parking permit which is I think about $45. From there, go to the campus police HQ and provide the receipt to obtain the parking sticker.
I have the Presitge Clinical I stethoscope. It is not the quality of a Littman but I think it is probably plenty for our purposes. If I for some reason need a better one then I will look into it once we are in school.
And, I have not yet receive my blue card...

LW
For the record- I STILL haven't found anywhere to live. The realtors around there never email me back
lmkea71,
I am sorry to hear that. Yeah... I can see this being the most crucial step for some of you because housing here is a nightmare I think. I would be making this priority number one unless you are able to commute for several weeks or months in the first semester.
I was surprised nobody jumped on the house I posted about earlier. I figured two or three of you would have jumped on that opportunity! It was only available for a few days but it is rented out now.

LW
Well I had to make sure I was going to be able to sell the house I currently have first, I live 8 hours away so there's no way I can commute....eeeeeek
Oh man, that would be stressful! I understand... wow, best wishes to you lmkea71! Hopefully, your home is in an area of high demand.
Regards,
LW
Yes! I had a contract on it in three days, so now to find somewhere to live! Keep y'all's eyes out for me if ya don't mind!!
You might have mentioned what you are interested in but I am too busy/lazy (studying for an A&P exam) to dig through this thread to find it! What are you looking for? Apartment, rental home, or buying a home?

Well, I went to SR Scrubs and bought my scrubs, lab coat, patches, clipboard, etc... about $280. :0
So between supplies and books... probably about $1000... (sigh)
I don't have my books yet. I will probably follow 2sons lead and get them separately and used if possible. I also obtianed my UT Tyler ID and College of Nursing ID, and parking sticker.
I am debating on purchasing a laptop. I have never felt the need to own one but wonder if it wouldn't be valuable to have for nursing school. What are your thoughts on having a laptop? I typically take notes by hand so I don't know that it would help me all that much. But... it is nice for studying and online resources... or the ebook material.
I must say, it felt sort of bizarre to look at myself in the mirror in the changing room. For the last 15+ years I have been a sort of geeky engineer-type. Seeing myself in scrubs was exciting, but kind of unnerving too. I have met some of my soon-to-be classmates so I am sure that I am not alone! :)
