UT Tyler nursing spring

Published

Am applying to UT tyler nursing program for spring 2015. Anyone else applying? Feel free to post comments.

I am pretty sure tlkeating is correct. You must have the drug testing done before registering.

I did drug screening 2 weeks ago. She told me she was going to send out codes to register our classes at the end of the week.

Has anyone that was accepted into the traditional program been able to register?

I haven't but I also still need to meet with an advisor

I received an email:

"ALL accelerated/fast track students will need permission codes to register for classes. I

will be sending those out next week."

So I think we just need to be patient and wait...

Everyone seems to be from Accelerated.. I got into the traditional program! It seems like only 4 or 5 people are from traditional on here! I wonder if they give you a list of all the books you need so you could buy them separately...? And I'm really nervous about reading this thread.. Apparently there are 600 students in the nursing program (Thats what Terri said in her email).. but only 35 in level 4... that seems pretty scary.

@hopeleeper, I now understand why they have a high passing NCLEX rate but low graduation rate. Almost about half of the students don't make it to the final year in their first attempt. That is not a good news

I think the stats are different for the accelerated program though since most of those 600 are not accelerated. Does anybody know how many people we have in our class?

I personally talked to someone who completed the Accelerated program. They started with 22 and 14 completed. Below I the question I asked someone who completed last year.

''Approximately what was the graduation rate? I can only speak for my

accelerated program group because I have no idea how many people started in

each traditional program class and how many graduated. We started out with

22 and I graduated with 14 in Tyler. This was because people either dropped

out of the program or had to repeat a class. Don't let that scare you

either! Most of these people did not put in the time and effort it takes to

pass classes in nursing school! It is definitely doable to pass everything

the first time! You just have to be committed. Also, all of us that

just graduated have taken NCLEX and every single person passed!

That makes me feel much better!!

zilamakus,

I think what that person told you is spot on. People admitted to the ABSN are supposed to be competitive and "good students". To not complete the program has probably more to do with lack of discipline or life variables get in the way (i.e. work, family, finances, etc...). I am shocked at the poor attendance rates and test score averages in my A&P classes. I am fairly certain that at least half of my class just do not care. Many students do as little as absolutely possible.

Doing well in school takes a lot of work. Period.

I do not like the changes to this website. I no longer see my account information on the righthand side with favorites and email link, etc... It looks like the removed a bunch of features.

Hopeleeper,

Don't be a stranger to the accelerated group. We are all in this together just in different programs! I hope to get to know a lot of the nursing students and hopefully have a decent study group. So far, I find that almost nobody at TJC does study groups which is really surprising to me.
