Hi all just thought i start a trend for spring 2015 applicants for UTH. Has everyone already submitted their applications? I am in the process of finishing all my prerequisite this summer. I have only 3 classes left. I will be done with those July 8.. My current stats so far is GPA Overall 3.75 science GPA 4.0. I have not taken my HESI yet. I plan on taking that Aug 9.. I hope that's not too late since the deadline is Aug 15.
@meesterjojo - I too got 100% on a couple of sections of the reading comprehension section of my HESI last fall, and an overall of ~92%, with conclusions as a 67%. I was worried about the same thing, that the one section would hurt me instead of the overall score. However, I'm happy to report that I was accepted, and will begin in the fall, so you should be fine! Congratulations on your HESI scores - they're AMAZING!! Best of luck to you all!

Hey tmadsen, If you don't mind me asking...what were your scores and GPA?
For everyone else applying for Spring 2015, what are your HESI and GPA stats?
Here's me:
Reading Comp - 90%
Grammar - 94%
Vocab - 90%
A&P - 88%
Math - 98%
Critical Thinking - 950
Pre-req GPA = 3.72
Science GPA = 3.63
I am FREAKING OUT, hoping that's enough to get me in! Also hoping UT actually looks at my work history to see that I was an EMT and will give me bonus points for previous medical experience.
I have put all my eggs in the UT Houston basket. I was accepted to HCC's ADN program, but after taking pharmacology there, I am LESS than impressed with the way they do things. Their NCLEX pass rate is horrible, I think they're on probation with the BON, and why settle for an associates degree when I have all the pre-reqs to go straight for the Bachelors degree? If I don't get in, I don't know what I'm going to do...
Does anyone know if they look at your overall score for the HESI or do they also look at your individual scores especially at A&P?
They do look at the individual scores for A&P, Math, etc., but they don't care about the subsets of the Reading Comprehension (Meaning/Word Use, Conclusions, Implications, Understanding)...just that you get at least a 75% on the overall comprehension area.
Looks like we're all having trouble with the conclusions part. I got a dismal 57% on conclusion, so I called UT as I was leaving the testing center and they said it's just the sum of those parts.
Hope that makes sense. Obviously, the better we do, the more "competitive" an applicant we are. Am I happy with my 88% on A&P? Hell no, but I only missed 3 questions! I would have much rather they asked more questions. Miss 3 out of 50 and I'da had a 94! Oh well...
Sorry I didn't respond earlier - nursing school is CHALLENGING, but amazing!
My science GPA was 4.0, and my pre-req GPA was 3.9. I have a previous degree as well. I couldn't tell you what all my scores were at this point, and I'd have to look and see where they ended up (we've moved twice this year), but I know that my A&P was only an 84 (I was in the middle of Anatomy; Physiology was the spring semester), my math was in the 90's, and my reading comprehension was ~92. My critical thinking was an 890.
