Hello everyone!
I want to start a thread for those of you applying to UT-Houston's BSN-DNP CRNA program for 2017 admission. How is everyone faring so far? Being that this is a competitive program, this is a place where we can help each other out essentially.
I'm finishing up my application soon. Who else is doing the same?! What are your stats? Mine are:
GPA 3.8
GRE: 306
3 years SICU
CCRN
Just out of curiosity, I see that many of you have been accepted to several other programs already (TCU, OLOL, Baylor) and have accepted those spots. Is UT your first choice?
Never really thought about it. Just wanted to get into one of the schools here in Houston as they are both very good programs and hard to get into - they were both top of the list for me and the only two schools I applied to!
UT would be my first choice if I focus on the financial aspect of being able to pay my tuition without taking out any loan. On the other hand, Baylor would be my first choice due to it's ranking, amenities/resources available. Let's see how the outcome for UT's interview plays out!

It's hard to pick a program because each one has its positives. I have a family so staying local or being local as much as possible is a big part of the decision. Also, as HISCHILD has mentioned, finances play a big part of it too. It would be nice to not have to take a loan. But my top three are TCU, Baylor, and UT (if I get accepted). After hearing about UT, my wife and I will need to sit down and see which one is going to be the best fit all around. Time will tell!
So true... there is so many things to be taken into consideration before we can decide on which school to go to and how to organize things around before this big commitment. From what I heard from senior srna's , it's hard to get in but it's harder to stay in...
by the way I am curious if everybody had taken organic chemistry and statistics class before applying?

I took Organic Chemistry and Statistics (had an A in both classes) before I applied to the programs. It was helpful as my GRE scores were not as high as I anticipated; I am not too good with standardized tests.
