UT Health Science Houston

Hello all,

I was wondering if any current students at UTHS Houston (nursing) could provide your GPA, HESI Score, and what school/schools you attended previously.

I have a 4.0 in all math and sciences and a 3.89 cumulative. I don't have much experience in the field, other than a summer internship at the Rose (a Nonprofit Breast Health Care Center).

My HESI score average 90.4% (88% Anatomy/Physiology, 94% Mathematics, 90% Grammar, 92% Vocab/General knowledge, and 88% Reading Comprehension, 800 Critical Thinking). I only took it one time.

I currently attend Sam Houston State University.

Do you think I have a chance at getting into the nursing program?

THANKS!

-Nervous Student

I'm not in a nursing program, but those grades/scores are damn good! You should be proud of yourself (: you have a really good chance op, good luck!

Thanks so much! Good luck to you too.

Hi, I'm currently in my last semester at UTHealth Houston SON. I started in Fall 2013 and was super nervous as well!

Just for some perspective, my pre-nursing GPA was 3.77, 4.0 in math and sciences, overall HESI score was 89% (Can't remember the whole breakdown. I know I had 80% in A&P, 88% Math, 780 in Critical Thinking), and the only school I'd attended previously was a local junior college (WCJC) for my pre-requisites. I had volunteer experience at Texas Children's Hospital, but that's my only previous hospital background.

Your GPA and HESI A2 scores are higher than mine, so I'd say you have a good chance of getting in. However, I've heard people with higher GPA & HESI A2 scores higher than mine getting rejected and people with lower GPA & HESI A2 scores getting accepted. Thus, I'm not sure exactly what they focus on when reviewing applicants.

Sorry if this causes you anymore distress! Just trying to give you some perspective. Good luck to you & applying for nursing programs! UTHealth is challenging, but definitely rewarding.
