I am just learning that an alternate entry or direct entry MSN even exists! I have a BA in Communications and am currently in a LVN program because it didn’t require perquisites and was cheap but now Im half way through and realized that I may want to just go ahead and jump straight to the end goal as my financial aid is non existent now and I should go ahead and tap into grad loans haha. But I am really stumped on the CV. Can anyone who was accepted give me some tips on that? Because I was a terrible student in UG so I doubt my CV would be helpful. Oh yeah, congrats to everyone accepted! Xoxo.
Hi! I got accepted into LeaDS. My CV wasn't anything crazy. Here's the outline of what mine looked like:
Objective
Education
All Work Experience (I was an MA x 5 years and even included my time working at Chick Fil A and Raising Cane's)
All Volunteering Experience (even if it was just 3 months over the Summer!)
Professional Memberships & Honors (I just had one LOL)
Licenses and Certifications (I had Stop The Bleed and CPR/BLS)

I wasn't the best student academically either, so I know exactly where you are coming from. If you feel comfortable enough, you can privately message me on here and send your email! I can show you how I did mine :).
hi guys, just wondering if anyone here is considering the LeaDs → post masters certificate—pmhnp route? It was mentioned as an option in the deferment (PMHNP → LeaDs) email back in December. I thought it was a great option to consider, but I have been doing some research online and now im confused.
I thought the program (LeaDs + post-masters) would be ~ 4 years total, give or take. To me, plus 1 more year is not much of a difference especially since I love the LeaDs program/ want to go into nursing education as well (just within the realm of psychiatric nursing). However, after looking at the sample full-time schedule on their website, it seems like we're going to have to take a gap year? They only have one start date which is in fall, but that semester covers the APN prerequisites we'd already taken in LeaDs.
Does anyone have more information on the PMSN certification programs or how long it will take in all if you're entering as a LeaDs graduate (that is assuming that we even get in T_T)

Not PMHNP but I want to do the same thing with the PCPNP post-master's which has the same issue with the first Fall semester. I'm thinking because it's a sample schedule as long as other required courses are offered in the Fall we may be able to enroll in other classes. However, that's a guess. Because clinicals can usually only accommodate so many students I'm not sure if it would shorten the program though. I plan on discussing how everything would work (or not) with an advisor pretty early on so I can plan ahead (and because the PCPNP post-master's has an experience requirement so I'm already debating finishing the AE-MSN program part-time while working. Assuming we can apply to the post-master's while finishing the masters since application is a year in advance.)
I'll post something if/when I find anything useful out. ?
I'm planning to apply this coming August and attended an information session last week. I asked if you can go straight to the PCP-NP after finishing LeaDS. She said yes, you can apply for the program while you are still in LeaDS, however some of the classes overlap, so you would end up having the first fall off most likely, because all the new students would be taking classes you have already taken the first semester. She also said that most of the MSN students that are already RN's continue working while they do the NP programs. She said doing school full time and working as an RN is very doable, especially after completing a very busy year 1 of the AE program.
Congrats to everyone who was accepted!
I'm planning to apply in the fall and just wondering if anyone can share other programs (Texas or remote) they are applying to and/or backup plans?
Also anyone have young children and planning to start the program or know someone in the program with young children?
I just finished reading this entire forum Lolol. Congrats to everyone!
I am planning to apply to the AE MSN - PMHNP program in August and this forum allowed me to experience everyones collected anxiety from seven months of waiting condensed into about ten minutes of reading. All I can say is that I am incredibly nervous now. But also excited.
Can anyone share the shadowing experience they had going into the application process? How you found people to shadow, who you shadowed, etc.
I’m glad I found this forum.
Thanks!

I was admitted to AE-PMHNP and I did not do any shadowing.

How did you make connections with professionals who could write you a letter of recommendation? Did you work with any NPs directly?
I am starting the program in June. I have three years of full-time work experience in mental health. The medical director of my current clinic, who is a psychiatrist, wrote one of my letters of rec.
