Application: Summer 2011 BSNUR by Mackenzie C McDonald
Thank you for your application to the Summer 2011 upper division program. We have reviewed your application and have determined that your pre-requisite courses are met and that your GPA meets the minimum to be considered. Therefore, we have changed your application status and have moved your name to the eligible applicant list. The final list will be reviewed and applicants will be chosen after the March 15 deadline, so you can expect a final acceptance or denial decision by email 3-4 weeks after the deadline (late March/early April). Please remember: if you took classes outside USF, it is your responsibility to send transcripts showing those grades to undergraduate admissions so they can be calculated into the GPA no later than the deadline. Thank you.
Now all I can do is wait, wish me luck!
hello all i'm really late posting, but i was wondering do they ask for how many hours you've completed of experience or do you just write about your experience in your writing sample? Also a question about the writing sample, do they give you a prompt as to what to write about? I know for UF's application it had something like "how will being in UF's nursing program help you achieve your nursing goals?" or something similar to that..
thanks for the info :) I'm trying to apply for USF summer 2012 i'm done with all my pre-reqs and got all A's in them so hopefully that will help i've also done some volunteer work at a local hospital as well.. i was applying last year to programs and got an interview at UNF, but was not selected.. needless to say i got rejected everywhere else.. hopefully this coming year will be a little bit more successful :)

Hello DDoris!
I am applying to USF's BSNUR for Summer 2012. I've noticed on this thread, many people were put on the alt list, regardless of their high GPA. I too have a high GPA, an overall 3.9. However, the essay counts as 40% of being admitted. NOW! I'm so nervous, bc I've never been the most articulate writer!
I've tried googling "personal statement nursing essays", etc, but they werent helping me.
Hope to hear from you :)

Hello Summer '11 students! I am applying for the Summer of '12 undergrad program. I am crossing my fingers! My question to you is this- Is there anything I can be doing (eg studying, reading, etc) above and beyond the pre-reqs we all took, to be successful in the program? I have volunteer health care experience, but I don't have the experience that a CNA or LPN might coming in. Any tips on what is helping you succeed? Thank you so much! And cross your fingers for me please!

Did you end up applying for Summer 2012?
Suejax---I just got your message, I cannot send a message because I have not posted the minimum amount of posts to be able to do that, so I will try to reach you this way. The interview at Mayo was a lot like every other interview that I have had, they asked all of the behavioral style questions as well as elaborate on them. For instance, "Tell me about a time.... What did you learn....How did that make you feel....etc." I highly suggest reading the "Mayo Interview Tips" document they have on their website. When is the interview and on what unit? Good luck!

My GPA is a 3.4 as well, and I know the minimum is a 3.5 its my dream to go to USF for as long as I can remember. Do you think I have a chance of getting in? What could I do to make my chances higher and stand out from all these applicants with 3.5+ GPA's....Thank you sooo much for the help/advice :)

They sent us official denial letters and told us the program is full for Upper Division, so I don't think any alternates for either program would get open seats at this point. Thanks for the heads up though!
