Application: Summer 2011 BSNUR by Mackenzie C McDonald

Thank you for your application to the Summer 2011 upper division program. We have reviewed your application and have determined that your pre-requisite courses are met and that your GPA meets the minimum to be considered. Therefore, we have changed your application status and have moved your name to the eligible applicant list. The final list will be reviewed and applicants will be chosen after the March 15 deadline, so you can expect a final acceptance or denial decision by email 3-4 weeks after the deadline (late March/early April). Please remember: if you took classes outside USF, it is your responsibility to send transcripts showing those grades to undergraduate admissions so they can be calculated into the GPA no later than the deadline. Thank you.

Now all I can do is wait, wish me luck!

Kpravetz,

Thanks alot... Listen, your GPA is phenomenal... Don't give up. Hopefully your not to far on the alternate list, one of my friends was on the list, and got in for the PA program. So no worries!! There are definitely people that back out because they can't just stop there life if there really not ready for the commitment.

Do you like USF? I'm going to be new so I'm pretty nervous and don't know what to expect or where to move... Do you suggest on campus or off campus housing?

Thanks so much, that's really what I needed to hear! I'm still hopeful to hear back, but if it doesn't work out this semester, I'm hopeful for fall!

USF is great! The nursing building is really nice, too. I lived off campus because its cheaper. My sister spent a year on campus and didn't find many benefits. There are plenty of apartments within walking distance, and even more within a short driving distance. I'd suggest looking at apartmentratings.com

No problem! Yeah, Fall isn't that far away... Make sure that your essay and resume is top notch. I really worked hard on mine and if you want some tips I definitely don't mind :)

I'm definitely glad to hear you like the school. Yeah, I noticed that the apartments on campus were like 860$ per month or whatever! I am probably going to look into off campus and visit that apartmentratings now... Thanks for the good information though.

I got into the accelerated program :)

For those of you looking for housing, I use to live in the St. Croix apartments. They started remodeling the last 6 months we were there so I'm not sure what the prices are now. It's a great complex and it's close to USF and University Community Hospital.

Specializes in none.

I guess we will be seeing each other in person. Congrats man am I glad the wait is over.

Hello All,

I just found out I am on the alternate list :/

I had a 3.92 overall GPA and a 4.0 pre req GPA and I had been volunteering at the VA hospital. They must have weighted more heavily on the writing samples and experience this sems. But idk?? Hoping and praying I get admitted. Guess I will know in a week.

I will def apply again for fall though.

Sarahbeth, I would have thought you were guaranteed in had I seen your stats. I'm surprised how competitive the application pool was this semester. I bet you're high on the alternate list though, so here's hoping they find you a spot!

Thanks I hope so too!

I also got chosen as an alternate.

3.92 GPA, 4.0 Pre-req.

Some healthcare experience.

Would anyone be willing to help with my resume and writing samples for fall?

Thanks

I'm really curious to know how many alternates there are. I'm still in shock over how many excellent candidates didn't get in... I would have thought a 3.9+ GPA would guarantee you a spot.

I am curious and in shock as well kpravetz. What upsets me the most is that every time I spoke with usf nursing advisor's they told me my GPA was excellent and I had nothing to worry about because GPA was the main thing they look at. I am confused how people with lower GPA's than mine got in? USF must have completely changed their minds this sems and weighted more heavily on writing samples and resumes. I thought my samples were strong but apparently not.

I feel the same as you. I was honestly a little suprised that I didn't get in. I guess I shouldn't be so confident though; you never know what the situation is or what exactly they're looking for.
