USF ABSN vs UMASS ABSN

Published

Hello everyone!
I recently received my acceptance to UMass Amherst ABSN program but I have to put a deposit down by March 5th. I also am highly considering University of South Florida ABSN program, but their application doesn’t open till May for the same start date!!
I graduated USF with a bachelors in political science, and living in Tampa, FL is immensely cheaper and my boyfriend and I want to buy a house down there. Living and commuting an hour to UMass Amherst is going to be so challenging.

does anyone know what program is essentially “better”??? I’m really stuck in the middle now, any advice would be greatly appreciate ❤️

Hi,

I do not know which program is better. I just wanted to say Congratulations on being accepted to both programs! To me, it sounds like you have more of an incentive to go to USF especially if you are wanting to purchase a house. This would also minimize the amount of loans you have to take out. Either way you are fortunate to have to choose between two great schools. Best of luck to you!

Ahh thank you so much, I actually haven't been accepted to USF yet since their application doesnt even open until May but their acceptance rate is 17% versus 2% at UMass and I also graduated from there for undergrad so I am hoping for an acceptance

OMG! I am so sorry. I completely read your initial post wrong. If you can afford to put down the deposit to UMASS I would. Have you applied to any other schools or is it only UMASS or USF?

It’s only UMass and USF!

This is a tough decision. I would say to put your deposit down with UMass and then apply to USF in May. I'm assuming USF's program starts in August, so the deposit at UMass is so you have a backup school.

^^^ Do this!  The only downside is that you will lose out on the deposit to UMass, but that's a small price to pay if you get accepted to USF, which is closer to you and you won't have lots of high loans and big moving costs.

Also, it's a great backup plan just in case you don't get into USF.
