What are you guys writing different in the personal statement vs CV. seems like the CV they want your unit preference. So what is the distinction ? thanks

Also it was unclear (or maybe I missed it). Is an RN required by time of application or by start of the program?

A CV is a more comprehensive version of a resume that includes educational background, work experience, etc. That's why the website has it as "Resume/CV." I think you're referring to the distinction between a cover letter and a personal statement (correct me if I'm wrong though).

A personal statement extends on your CV and cover letter, which is why it's normally around 2 pages. It's written like an essay, while your resume/cv is not. While the cover letter is more about why you want the job, why you specifically want to work at USC, and what makes you qualified for the role (one page letter format), what they want in the personal statement is described on their website. For the personal statement, this is what they want: "Tell us what being a nurse means to you, and what you will bring to the profession and to USC."

Hi! Thank you so so much for this and yes I meant Cover letter vs personal statement. This is super helpful!

Is it just me, or did they not ask about the certifications (ACLS, BLS, etc) in the application? I often have to manually add each one to other new grad applications.

I don't think certificates like ACLS or stellar GPA play a big factor to get you an interview. They probably screen you heavy on CV, work experience, LOR ( clinical instructors or manager)

I graduated this Summer, should I still apply or is it a waste of time?

I think I read on the application that it is required tho. I have mine and I submitted my application but it did not ask about ACLS, it just asked if we have all the minimum requirements. And ACLS is listen as one.

Maybe you were referring to the USC Arcadia location. ACLS is required. As for Keck, they did not listed.

ACLS is required

I wrote an email to the recruiting people because I didn't realize all of the docs needed to be uploaded in the application (big mistake on my end for not reading the instructions on the separate web page). I included personal statement, transcripts, and LORs so hoping they will still consider my application.

Most hospitals prefer that you have at least both your ACLS & BLS, so I always attach it automatically to the documents I submit
