I'm also Med/Surg.

Wow that just got pretty real!!! Im med-surg!

Specializes in ICU, ED, PICC.
The company does start with a M. Pretty much, if you're felony free and licensed, you're hired! I'm worried I'll be bored out of my mind.... Any advice?

I didn't hear anything after mine was submitted until my recruiter changed and my new one just called to introduce himself and check in with me. I think mainly, unless you contact them after everything is in, they are just waiting for the list from the board and working with the next group of applicants. Hopefully we'll be talking to our recruiters about a month from now CVA311 and signing a few more papers! :)

Yay for signing commissioning papers!! As for flu shot clinic advice, bring a book! lol. I did 10 hour shifts at Wally World 4 days a week while I was still waiting on a full time job. 15 shots in 10 hours=a lot of down time!

I signed up for med/surg. 46 slots! woooo!

Specializes in Med/Surg, PACU.
Who applied for Med/Surg and who applied for OB? Just talked to my recruiter, they have 46 NTP positions, 40 Med/Surg and 6 OB....

Is that newly released information? We've all seen varying numbers and I'm just curious as to if your recruiter gave any indication on if that is the official number we've been waiting for?

Haha. I'm not really looking forward to it but it fits well with waiting on the Air Force. Turned down a job at my capstone site due to a contract and turned down a job at a prison just because I couldn't totally bring myself to do it. I'm med/surg as well! That's twice what my recruiter told me months back so I like that number much more!

That's the official number of slots for NTP nationwide! While my recruiter said he estimated roughly 84 applicants nationwide, another said 110. It still gives us a good shot at acceptance :)

Hey guys...is it late August yet?? ;)

Holy crap I go like 3 days without checking this thread and come back to find like 5 more pages since I last logged on! You guys are all great it sure is fun read everybody's stressed out comments and know I'm not alone haha! I hope SN2013s recruiter is tellin the truth and those numbers are correct....46 spots for 110 applicants is actually really good odds as far as commissioning boards go! At least in my experience...

SN2013 you called me out. lol. I have been peeking at this thread for some time. I'm driving myself nuts waiting for any news. I sure hope August 10th will be the release date. Feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Last week I had to turn down a job because they wanted an 18 month commitment. I'm sure most of you are experiencing the same, and it's quite frustrating because many of the desirable jobs in my area are being taken while I wait for some good news. I was curious. Like I mentioned earlier, I had to turn down a job due to the contractual commitment. Has anyone else had a similar experience? and if so, would voluntary military service be considered a breach of contract?

Hey JB396 welcome to the thread! I graduated in December and got licensed in January so I really couldn't afford to turn down any jobs...had to start payin the bills. I worked at a hospital as a CNA thru nursing school and they offered me a small scholarship that also came with a job after I got licensed along with a 18 month commitment. I'm not gonna feel great about breaking the contract early if I get selected by the AF, but it IS allowed...not like it's illegal or anything. At my hospital, you have to pay back half of the scholarship money they gave you, but that sort of "buys" your way out of the 18 month commitment. In the long run, I'll be making much more from the AF given my prior service time, so it's financially worth it. Also, since getting off active duty I've been in the AF Reserve and I've spent a weekend each month and several weeks each summer doing Reserve duty...the hospital has always been understanding and supportive about me being on orders for the AF and I bet most companies feel similar. My hospital has all kinds of paperwork to do and special policies that apply to military orders...so if a REALLY good job comes your way, I think I'd take it, and see if they have some sort of military clause that applies to getting out of the contract early. Just my thoughts... :)

Hahahah! LN75, I highly recommend you don't take a 3 day hiatus anymore :) Or maybe you like that because you can sit for hours and read up on all you missed lol.

Thanks for the reply. Wish I would have known prior to my interview that commitment contracts even exist. I gotta tell ya, the look on my face must have been quite obvious when I was asked about signing a contract. Now I know, thank you for that information.
