USA, UK, Australia, Canada or Switzerland- I need your opinion on this

Take the UK off of your list, they have a hiring freeze in place. They are laying off British nurses, so unless you are from the UK or the EU you will have difficulties finding a job there. Even Americans are having problems.

Take Australia off your list, its very expensive to have a license in Australia. They require foreign trained nurses from the Philippines to undergo a migrant bridging program and you will pay from your pocket. Unless you have experience gained from UK or Ireland, you will not immediately be granted license without the Overseas Qualified Nurse migrant bridging program.

australia tho, there is this doctor-friend who's been encouraging me to work in australia. i'm not sure tho if he knows about that migrate-bridge thing. he told me tho that australia has a big demand for nurses, and that i can work almost everywhere. i guess i need to inform him about that thing you said lavalin.

i'd like to know more of that lavalin, if its ok to ask. like how much are we exactly talking? i mean from my pocket. aren't the employers/sponsors going to take care of that?

this thread/post is still open for suggestions.

is it gonna be usa, canada, australia, or switzerland? other countries not listed here may be proposed as well.

what about the advantages, benefits, special offers like housing-for-rn's or cost of living allowances? who's in the lead when we're talking about those things, like the best in terms of package?

Don't be hasty about taking Australia off your list. I work with a number of nurses from the Philippines (trained in the Philippines) and they are doing well for themselves. The bridging programme may cost a bit of money initially but once you have the nursing licence, the yearly renewal for registration os affordable. I'll need to find out more about the bridging programme and will post later. Take care

Don't forget that the USA has retrogression at the moment - visas are non-existent for nurses.

Also if you think there's hoops to jump through for Australia they're nothing compared to the USA - you'll have to pass N-CLEX, English language, get VisaScreen done etc, etc, etc - I'm sure it will end up just as expensive as Australia - if not more! & worse than Australia when you do get through all that paperwork there's no visa anyway at the moment!!

Australia are looking for Registered Nurses with 3 or more years experience. You will need to have worked in one specialty for at least 3+ year if you wish to work in that specialty in Australia.

Registered Nurses who originally came from the following countries below do not need to take the IELTS and Assessment/ Migrant Bridging Course:

1.UK

2.Ireland

3.New Zealand

4.Republic of South Africa

5.Zimbabwe

6.USA

7.Canada

Registered Nurses who came from the countries below will ONLY need to take the IELTS and are frequently eligible for immediate registration upon submission of all required documents:

1.HK

2.Singapore

3.Nurses who hold an HBO qualifications that led to their registration in the Netherlands

4.A person who has undertaken a nursing course in EU that meets the EU directive 77453

I think any of these countries would do-- if you are very eager to work abroad...Just keep yourself busy gaining experience and preparing yourself to pass exams required for these countries..If you'll have at least 2-3 years experience, there wont be any problems you could apply to any country which you like or is currently hiring Filipino nurses.Passing the IELTS is a great advantage..or you could invest money for reviewing and taking CGFNS or NCLEX if you want to apply for United States..If you want to work in Switzerland, you have to study Italian, French and German languages..These are the usual languages spoken by the people of Switzerland..

This may be so and many of the guys/girls that i work with in the same boat... but this has taken them many years. Many (not all - just some bad eggs) undertake sponsorship programs that hold you for a minimum term and state that you can ONLY work for their agency with poor pay - much lower than their co-workers of citizenship/permanent status. Many of the Filipinos i have meet constantly state their unhappiness at the current conditions that they are under from some of these nursing agency's. In stating this however, many of the staff sponsored by the larger hospitals are more than happy with aussie conditions.

sofia 815 was right. we do speak either french, german and italian in switzerland. so one of these languages would be a must-have, in order to find a job in switzerland.
