Have you looked at the FL BoN website for requirements for licensing by examination as an internationally educated nurse? There are step by step requirements

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Moved to the Nurse Registration forum

yes i did, and actually im about to do all the process all over again but afraid to move further i've wasted a lot of money because of applying on different states like ca nv or. i was able to get eligibility in or but my application has expired since their only giving 3 years to pass nclex from my graduation date. i just wanna know if florida is a sure hit thank you po so much. God bless po.

Nothing is a sure hit. In Florida, wages are low and there is low demand for new grad & inexperienced nurses. Do you have work rights in the US( citizen, PR, valid work visa)? Not having work rights will seriously inhibit your ability to work as a nurse in the US

Plus if you fail the NCLEX 3x in any state FL BoN requires evidence of completing a nurse refresher course before granting authorization to test again.

Many states have time limits to sit & pass the NCLEX/become licensed from graduation if not actively working as a nurse in US or other country (usually recent paid nursing experience if graduated more than 3 years ago).

i have PR. im worried about that 3x nclex issue in florida cause i did nclex twice, failed all attempts florida might count in my previous attempts but still if i'll get that last chance at least i know there's hope. thank you for answering all my questions i really appreciate it.

Ahhh, I see you posted in another thread about the states you tried. Before taking the NCLEX on the third attempt, why not invest your time and money into a refresher course? I know it's $$$, but if you do fail again, you'll be required to take the refresher courses anyways.

Some states do look at the number of times one has taken the NCLEX, as it's on their application forms and you should disclose it, not sure what will happen if you don't, they give you the ATT and you get your license, if they can revoke or suspend the license as it's found to be fraudulent later. Honesty is the best policy.

Nothing worse to spoil your day by getting a letter from the BON that you did not mention the previous exams and they will possibly take away your license. Imagine what that will do to your job hunting or if the employer gets a copy, you'll always have to keep looking behind your back.

There are other states such as NY and TX, where it's unlimited re-takes but check to see if there's a limited time period to pass before having to re-apply. But do you wish to work and practice in one of those two states?

Again, investing your resources to take a refresher course early on can save you more time and money (not more $$ for fees). Say for example, $300-400 times 2 for application fees, Pearson $$ fees can run over $600-$800 or more by the time you're said and done.

With statistical surveys showing the international applicants has a 35% or less of passing the NCLEX for their first-time and that numbers drops with each re-take, a refresher course would better increase your chances to get passed. Still not a 100% guarantee since each person has different test taking success or failure results, but at least it's a better try. Good luck, kabayan.
