US RN Work In Queensland

I have several questions I am hoping some of you can help me with. I am an experienced ICU nurse here in the USA. I have an associates degree in nursing and am a registered nurse licensed in two US states. I have looked at the Queensland Nursing Council web site. From what I can tell foreign trained nurses are considered on a case by case basis. Can anyone tell me if they know of US trained RNs with associates degrees becoming registered in Queensland or any other state of AU? I hold a New Zealand passport (married to a Kiwi). Does this mean I will not have to worry about getting a work visa?

I am used to a lot of autonomy working in US ICUs with minimal physician supervision. Is this the case with ICU nursing in AU?

Thanks in advance.

I do know some ADN-trained US RNs who work in Australia.

Do you have a NZ nursing license already?

ICU nursing in Australia is relatively similar to the US in terms of autonomy, although there are certainly differences in practice.

*** Thank you very much for responding. Your answers are helpful. I do not have a NZ nursing lisence as I have never lived in either country, except for a 6 month stint as a jackaroo on a station near Blackall when I was 18 years old.

Do you know if being a citizen of NZ will allow me to live/work in AU with out bothering with a work or residence visa?
