US RN-BSN looking to obtain an Australian license.

I'm an RN-BSN with 18 years experience in labor & delivery/gynecology/postpartum/nursery. My husband is an RN-ADN with 12years experience as a nurse and 20yrs experience as a paramedic. He has worked in trauma ICU, cardiac cath lab, and currently as a flight nurse.

We are interested in obtaining australian nursing licenses to work for approximately 6 month contract. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Australia uses midwives.

Start with the APHRA website. There isn't a high demand right now

So, do you happen to know if there is a low demand for all areas of nursing or just labor & delivery? What are the needs for nursery? Women's health? Postpartum? Flight nursing?

Countries that use midwives, the midwives take care of well woman and routine obstetrics.

Start with APHRA for requirements. Most countries don't use contract travel nurses like the US. It takes months for the credential assessment plus you need to meet the qualifications for a working holiday visa. Nursing education is not standardized throughout the world. Like most other countries BSN if the entry to practice degree.
