Please Provide me information

1) I've been an RN for three years working on a med-surg unit. I only held associate's degree. But I will be graduating this spring semester (May 2009) to have my BSN. My current GPA is 3.94. I sent my application for commission to my healthcare recruiter but she still wants me to provide her some references so it will take a while before she sends it to the board. Supposed she send it at the end of January, how long would the process usually take? I wrote that I want to be in ODS on June 2009 after I graduate on May and I've been telling my coworkers and friends there's no reason they will delay my application.

2) I do understand that sometimes delay will take place becasue of problems they found out. What problems do they usually see that causes extreme delay? Ok, I'll be honest. These are the things they might see on my record. I only wrote that I have a ticket last March for improper passing. (I paid the ticket). However, I also have several speeding tickets which I paid too. When I came here in US on 2002, I worked first as a nursing assistant for two years while in nursing school. However, I did not include that in my work history. I don't have any contacts with any of my coworkers and that my supervisors I believe hate me. I call out sick a lot. But they didn't fire me, I quit. After I got my associates on May 2005, I work in a oncology floor for a year. Then moved to a hospital closer to where I lived. My problem is, I really did not have any leadership positions held. Also, my recruiter told me to contact some of my co-workers from my previous job, and fine, I gave her somebody's info. But even if they contact her, how could that person provide valuable information if that person only worked for me for one year. please lemme know if this is cause for delay in my application.

3) Im only 25 years old, male. 26 on September, single and have no dependents. I have no physical deformities and never been hospitalized. I signed that Im willing to work active duty for four years. Came in US in 2002 from Philippines, I got my citizenship last year 2008. What possible reason a person like me will have his application delayed?

THANK YOU ALL GUYS, somebody interviewed me already, one is a pilot and the other one is a nurse in bethesda, I told her I go to allnurses.com for information and LT Dan is the big dog here. She said she doesnt know what allnurses is but she knows Lt dan.

cumberland,

Have your recruiter had you fill out a pre-physical checklist? a background history questionnaire dating back 7 years, submit a personal statement? Interview a naval officer? Received school transcripts? Scheduled for a MEPS physical?-

I guess I'm asking what actually has been done to this point? After the boards (which typically meet monthly) feedback of approval is pretty quick... less then a few weeks in most cases. The time consumption is usually doing the paperwork I listed above. Your packet needs the above items before it could even be submitted.

My recommendation is schedule a face to face with the recruiter - you should walk away with a checklist for the packet (know what you need to do and feedback from him/her as in date of physical, any paperwork you need from him/her), lay out your time line and inquire about the overall timeline and then walk away with a goal of submission, ie I want to submit no later then 1 may in order to get feedback by 30 may, so I need my paperwork XYQ to recruiter on 15 april so it can be consolidated and submitted..... that sort of planning to help commit both parties and be aware of what is going on.

also have you finished your security clearance?? I know that takes a long time. Sounds like you are rolling!!!

Im basically done with everything. I had my physical at MEPS long time ago. I was interviewed by two officers already. I gave them my transcripts, citizenship paper and passport, I submitted application for commission with my personal statement. So Im basically waiting and just anxious how long the review board process takes. Even if they did approved my application, are they gonna let me go in Rhode Island for ODS on June 2009 as I expected or Im gonna have to wait for several more months!

well if you have done everything from what i hear from other applicants there is not a long wait after your packet goes to the boards. So you shouldn't have a problem going in June.
