US Citizen, RN in the Philippines, just got here in NY, overqualified for all jobs?

U.S.A. New York

Hi, I'm a registered nurse in the Philippines. I'm a US citizen and so I have the legal papers to work here in NY. I just here in NY and have not taken NCLEX-RN yet. I have been submitting my resume to every hospital I can see but they only say the same thing. I'm overqualified to be a Patient Care Assistant and I don't have the certificate of a CNA. I'm just so desperate. I want to have a job. I wish someone will see this. Any idea of a job for me? I'm over educated but I'm underqualified.

sorry to hear that you haven't had much luck with the job hunting.

i think you should at least start studying for the NCLEX in the meantime, while you're looking for a job. get yourself ready for that test and try to get your license here as soon as you can.

how long have you been a RN in the Philippines?

I didn't work as RN there because before you can work for a job you still have to undergo volunteering which you have to pay. I graduated 2008 and got my license the same year.

hi i am from pinas too and graduated 2008. anyhow i suggest u work on ur nclex first. the exam really requires concentration

Specializes in L&D.

The recruiters are getting hip to RN's taking on Nursing Aide positions so they aren't hiring. They know once a RN position opens up we're going to move on.

hi! i just got here in New York too. I hope you guys can help me out.

I'm a registered nurse in the Philippines and I want to practice in NY. I don't really know how to process that. I hope you can share the step-by-step. Here's what happened so far.

While in the Phil, I already applied for CVS from CGFNS. Over the course of 8 months they have received my license and my transcript of records from Ph..they sent email notifications, that's it...

What to do next? Should I be processing anything else too?

I would really appreciate the help. I'm getting stressed out. Thank you and God bless!
