Our staff used to educate patients on irrigating their catheter if needed after a TURP. Now infection control is saying it is best practice to involve home health or have the patient go to the ER if the catheter is obstructed. The surgeons keep the catheters in for 3-4 days post op. Wondering if you refer to home health or does your staff do education to the patients or family.

We give education regarding basic Foley care, but if their catheter became blocked, we tell them to come back to ER
