I worked at Presby on / off for a year through my agency. You will learn tons but you will work your butt off too. The skills you will gain will be great especially as a new nurse. The drawbacks are the staffing issues, parking (expensive !!!!) and back breaking work (little help with transferring patients). Good luck to you.
Clincally, it's a phenomenal place to work, especially the ICU's. Trauma/Neuro, Surgical, or Cardiothoracic. MICU is good, too, but not as intense as the surgical-run ICU's.
You will learn an incredible amount of stuff, and as one traveler told me...once you learn to survive in one of their ICU's, you will be able to work in any ICU across the nation.
I think the opportunities open to an enterprising nurse at UPMC are fantastic; Italy, Qatar, over a dozen hospitals and countless number of affiliates to work for. The largest hospital-affiliated flight program in the US with locations in 3 or four states. I no longer work there, but strap in and hang on...it will be a good time.

Hi. Can anyone give me some feedback on employment at UPMC Presby? I have an interview there early next month for a grad nurse position. I'm particularly interested in ICU/SICU. Feel free to PM me. Thanks.
