UPMC - Employment Opportunities (question)

All:

- I've been applying to various positions on the UPMC website the past three weeks.

- Unfortunately, all of my applications have a status of "applied."

- How long does it take UPMC to review/reject/approve applications? Am hoping I didn't

click a wrong button or such.

- Thanks in advance.

Johnny

It usually takes up to a month for UPMC to get back to an applicant. I believe they wait until the position has been posted for X amount of time before taking it down and making calls, although I'm not positive. Good luck.

If they aren't interested in you, they will never contact you, even to say the position is filled, thanks for applying. source: personal experience.

Thanks for the information.

I figure I will just keep checking the application status.

Hello. I am a RT and currently going to nursing school but I wanted to tell you my experience with UPMC. I applied for a RT position in June of last year, never heard anything. I called and they said it was closed even though I couldn't tell that by the website. But November, when the position was opened back up(which I did not reapply for), they called and asked if I was still interested. I would try and call HR themselves and ask if the position you are looking at is even open still. Just an idea!

I don't necessarily agree with the pat answer of a month. I've heard the answer too that it takes a month or 2 for them to get back to you. My situation was I applied for 8 different positions with 3 different hospitals (5 from one hopsital, 2 from another and 1 from another). I heard back from the one hospital w/the one position within 1 week. I've heard when they're interested in you, you'll hear back from them pretty fast. Turned out to be true in my case, I got hired from that hospital.

I don't think UPMC updates the postings to reflect closed etc... At least in my experience it just stays with the "applied" indicator. I never heard from the one hospital with the 2 postions. I followed up with the other hospital with the 5 positions 2 days after applying (before my hiring hospital contacted me) and it was a waste of time b/c they said they'll call if the manager tells HR they're interested in seeing you. But like I said I heard back from the one hospital within a week, they called that Friday after I submitted my app on a Monday. Surprised me it was that fast, but I heard that can be normal for them.

Good luck.

Kittyhawk:

- While UPMC fooled around, I went ahead and accepted a position with a different

hospital. My win ... their loss.

Awesome! Congratulations. I'm happy things worked out for the best for you.

I applied for a job in Sept/Oct didn't get a call until Nov. Then didn't hear from them until January with the job offer.
