UPENN 2016 COHORT

Hey everyone!

Im happy to announce that I have been accepted to the 2016 cohort at UPENN. I can finally say that I am now a SRNA. Im sure there are a lot of things on everyones mind so if any alumni or current students have any advice for us new comers, that'll be great. It would also be great to hear from my future classmates!

The biggest thing that i am worried about is, of course, the price. UPENN is not a cheap school. I was wondering if anyone had any issues with taking out loans for school and if anyone can steer me into the right direction as I would probably need to take out loans for school and living expenses.

i received an email that stated that the admissions committee has made their decision. I had to log into the applyweb website where u first applied... And the decision letter was there. I waited a month before I was told of their decision though. Good luck!

hey! Thank you and congratulations to you as well! I am not too familiar with the area, although I have been there many times (i live in central jersey 2 hours away). I'm still deciding on whether I should move into the philly area or just find a place in south jersey (cherry hill) which is approx 15 mins away. How about you? Are you already near the area?

hey, are you guys aware starting 2016 cohort they will be mandating it to be a CRNA/DNP program? So apparently, the program will be 3 years and cost alot more. Did those of you who are accepted get any notification of this?

Hey icurn89,

yes we were notified of this possibility on the acceptance letter. This is to no surprise as most programs are starting to move to DNP anyway since it will be mandatory for APNs to have a DNP come 2025. However, we were told that the university will make its final decision come September and send us another notification.

I just interviewed for the Psych Np program at UPENN. I should be hearing back in the next two weeks if I got in.

Congrats! I will be joining you as a classmate next year. I am quite excited but nervous as well. Not familiar with the Philly area but family isn't too far away (40mins) so that shouldn't be too bad. Cost is a bit of a concern but I figure it's a lifelong investment in my future. Looking forward to starting with you! I'd love to hear from some other current students about managing debt/case and courseload/thoughts on the program. Thanks!

Congrats! Yes I feel the same way.... And I know what you mean concerning the costs. I've been talking to some CRNAs and they say being as cost effective as you can is important when picking schools. But the training from upenn is also top notch...and the life long connections from Ivy league is also a great benefit. But i will see you in May!

Just curious how long it took for all of your transcripts to be uploaded, etc? I'm anxious because all of mine were sent electronically except 1 and that was sent ten days ago still with no updates. I know they are swamped with other applications (its probably like HR Block at tax time), but I can't wait until my application is ready to review. Gah!
