UPenn BSN Second Degree/ABSN 2015

Published

Hey everyone,

I was looking to connect with other people who have applied for Penn's BSN Second Degree Program. I received an email stating that interviews for the program would occur between November 2014 and January 2015. Has anyone heard back about an interview yet?

Best wishes!

Congrats everyone! I was accepted too! So excited :D

Dumb (or not) question:

I noticed that we have to complete the credit transfer form, but I thought our prerequisites were already approved during admission, and before gaining acceptance. So for example, I am accepted, but after completing the form, they decide that my courses do not satisfy their requirements, then I won't be able to attend Penn this June (since it is too late to register any spring classes)? Didn't they check our transcripts during admissions? (ps. I might be freaking out a little).

That freaks me out a little too, just the thought of losing my spot! But don't worry too much if you didn't take a lab or you took a class online, I really think they will work with you. They seemed lenient about prereqs during the info session a couple months ago. I think a lot of us are in the same boat, so don't freak out.

What courses are you worried about? I don't think its anything to be worried about unless you took something completely unrelated to the requirement.

Congrats to everyone!!! Is this everyone's first choice or are you guys looking at other programs?

Hey guys--long time lurker and first time poster-- I just got accepted!!! Congratulations to everyone… and to those who did not, I promise that wherever you end up will be the right school for you---that's how I ended up feeling about my undegrad which wasn't my first choice :)

I think you nailed it on the head, eastcoastie. I wish the very best to everyone, whereever you wind up pursuing your passion for nursing!

I was so grateful/psyched to find out I was accepted as well.

@acetate- If your'e worried about a particular course, maybe send a syllabus to the admissions officer? I was concerned about one of my courses (Chem). I was just about to shell out the dough for another, different chem class for the prereq, but I was pleasantly surprised when the admissions officer told me that the one I had would be just fine. Hopefully they're not sticklers, but I'm sure the office could help to clarify!

@LREYES2 and @Annie143, thank you for your responses. :) I just hope that they checked our prerequisite courses, and agreed they are equivalent to their requirements before accepting us. Maybe the credit transfer form is just to have these courses officially approved. I will call them on Monday, and update you guys. :D

Is anyone else here interested in submatriculation? I am definitely interested in the Anesthesia program, but I didn't apply right off the bat. Anyone in the same boat?

Hey,

I'm definitely planning to submatriculate into women's health. I was told we can do so Spring 2016 semester, and as long as we have a 3.2 or higher GPA the GRE is waived.

Is anyone planning to attend visitation day for accepted students on Friday the 27th?

Has anyone received financial aid package yet?

I contacted financial aid through the nursing school yesterday and they said the financial aid packages are delayed (they were supposed to go out last Friday, 2/20). I was told to expect them early this week.

Thanks staniel :)

The email said that financial aid would be available this week for people who submit materials by feb 1st. What materials though? Because the financial aid office website said the deadlines for 2014 tax return and w-2s/fafsa are due march or apirl. Did they mean the 2013 stuff?

My understanding is that the financial aid offer we're expecting soon is a preliminary offer, and that it is finalized after you submit your 2015 materials (e.g. tax returns, fafsa)
