UPenn ABSN 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi guys! I couldn't find a thread for this cycle's cohort and wanted to make one!

Hi! I was recently admitted to the ABSN program at Penn and I was wondering if anyone could give insight into the financial aid package given by the school/government. Does anyone know what the maximum amount the government typically gives (or a range)?

Hi!!
Federal subsidized is 2250 for Summer and 7750 for fall/Spring. Unsubsidized is 3000 for Summer and 10000 for fall/Spring. Private loans the max is around 77,500. To give you a better idea for all of it together, through Spring I have taken out almost 113k which is the max to take out for students over 26. Financial aid is not generous. They take into account your parents income even if they aren’t helping you and you are over 26 when you apply for financial aid. That said, it’s all still doable with the right local resources.

Thank you for the help! Do you have any resources you recommend?

Apply for food stamps so you don’t have to worry about groceries and apply to as many scholarships as you can. Spring gives you more time so many of us are now working. Also, the financial aid office is notoriously slow so if you are able to, save up as much as you can so you have a buffer while it disperses. And if you do decide to move here, a lot of new apartments farther from campus do 1 or 2 months rent free, so look out for those deals as well.

Thanks! This was really helpful and I appreciate it.

Also, are your lectures currently online with clinicals in person?

No problem!
Clinicals and sim lab are all in person. Lecture it depends on the professor. Some are only online, some are in person, some both!

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not UPenn's Spousal Tuition benefits were applicable to ABSN portion of the program since it's undergrad?
