  1. Hello! I was offered an interview for the psych NP Program for 2025. I was wondering if anyone has insight into the types of questions or what to expect for the interview? It's in-person!
  2. No problem! Clinicals and sim lab are all in person. Lecture it depends on the professor. Some are only online, some are in person, some both!
  3. Apply for food stamps so you don’t have to worry about groceries and apply to as many scholarships as you can. Spring gives you more time so many of us are now working. Also, the financial aid office is notoriously slow so if you are able to, save up as much as you can so you have a buffer while it disperses. And if you do decide to move here, a lot of new apartments farther from campus do 1 or 2 months rent free, so look out for those deals as well.
  4. Hi!! Federal subsidized is 2250 for Summer and 7750 for fall/Spring. Unsubsidized is 3000 for Summer and 10000 for fall/Spring. Private loans the max is around 77,500. To give you a better idea for all of it together, through Spring I have taken out almost 113k which is the max to take out for students over 26. Financial aid is not generous. They take into account your parents income even if they aren’t helping you and you are over 26 when you apply for financial aid. That said, it’s all still doable with the right local resources.
  5. Hi everyone! I got into the ABSN to DNP in Pediatric Acute/chronic care. Deciding between here and UC Davis, but will most likely choose Penn for the DNP!
  6. @nursecap I didn't get along well with that manager and she ended up quitting, made more sense to switch it to the friendlier manager. GPA wise I had a little above a 3.5 overall. Prerequisites were almost all done at UC Davis, and got B's in most, A's in everything else. I started a club while I did my undergrad there and it had a huge impact on the community and hospitals in the area (dressing up as princesses and visiting kids in hospitals and homeless shelters)! I also volunteered in the pediatric ER at UCDMC for 6 months. I currently work in a pediatric mental health crisis stabilization unit for kids that have attempted suicide, having a psychotic episode, homicidal ideation, etc. My extracurriculars and work experience are pretty extensive!!
  7. @Sarah Sarah I changed 1 reference, from one of my managers to another. Still at the same exact job and all. I didn't retake any classes or add anything else to my resume. I majorly changed my essays for the secondary application. The first time around I had a very hard time making the two different. Also, the more you write applications and apply to places, the easier it gets with every application. You get to find your voice in your writing, figure out what is really important and what not!
  8. @YYR They gave out no info. A lot of us emailed and asked but it was the same response of "If you are on the waitlist, you will be notified if you are taken off and offered admission by the week of orientation." It is really frustrating to not know where you stand. @Sarah Sarah I applied in 2019 for the 2020 cohort. So last February I found out I was on the waitlist, and that was the only school I heard back from. I started working on the application again in May just in case I didn't get accepted. At the end of June I got the official rejection letter with the suggestions on how to improve my application (the only school that did this!!) and completely redid everything. I started working on the 2 additional essays for the grad school app as soon as I was done with the initial app! While it is a whole year, it goes by fast since you are waiting and waiting and then the application will open up again! I said the same thing last year and was really discouraged by how things went...but keep working hard and it WILL happen!!
  9. I got accepted! I live in Orange County ??‍♀️But I did go to Davis for my undergrad! Still waiting to hear back from 4 more schools but Davis is in my top 2! I applied last year and got waitlisted. They won’t release what spot you are on the waitlist. I will say that if you end up not getting in, that they did send an email giving the reason why. Last year they said that my writing wasn’t strong enough. That is all it came down to. I spent the past year working on the essays and how I could better answer them and that paid off. Don't give up!
  10. Yeah the program starts at the end of June. They let people into the program off the waitlist up until the first week of the program, which is why those of us that didn’t get in just got the rejection letter.
  11. I got the same reason for written work. I didn’t get in anywhere this round so hopefully next year works out. They have been the only program so far to at least offer some insight on what to improve on. Better that it’s written work than grades/experience, those are much harder to improve upon in a year (especially with COVID limiting experiences)
  12. Has anyone heard back yet??? The anticipation is killing me!! IDK why it took so long for me to find this thread but glad I did ?
  13. I got this too. I think it’s just saying that it’s closed and to assume we didn’t get in, since we were supposed to hear by the 30th ?
  14. Has anyone else who’s been waitlisted tried to ask the school questions about it? I tried to ask when we could first hear by and how their process works and the only response I got was “We will contact you if you are accepted.” Did anyone get a less vague answer?
  15. Just got the email! I am on the waitlist, really hoping I get off of it quickly and just get in!! Good luck to everyone else!
