Hi everyone. For those of you who had some clean time behind you at your chemical evaluation, how did it go? I’m just concerned because I feel like these “ board approved professionals” are in cahoots with the board and will recommend some type of treatment even if the nurse has been clean and sober a while . I’ve completed an IOP 3 years ago. Would love to hear from y’all! Thanks!

Oh boy. You have a right to be concerned. I was dumb enough to be completely honest with my evaluator. I have a friend who just BS their way out of monitoring and I’m so glad he did.
however you have the truth on your side. You got yourself clean. You should be proud not afraid. I don’t know what to tell you to do but I can wish you luck

I would be prepared to discuss your clean time, what kind of work you do to maintain that, how you handle difficulties, and especially what you have learned. Emphasize the positive and be candid. That said, answer questions that are asked of you but do not give more information than is asked. Prepare yourself ahead of time, make written notes, and take notes during the interview. Remember to breathe and pay attention to your body language.
