Specialties Private Duty

Hi all. A friend of mine has a daughter with health problems. Her baby was on tpn 24 hrs a day and had an RN every day. She spoke very highly of the majority of the nurses. Now her baby is off of tpn and doesn't qualify for an RN and now has a CNA. She told me the CNA let her older Son drive her personal vehicle to go run and errand. I was so shocked. She also said that one day the CNA left the house for about and hour and didn't tell her. She left the baby with the the other children and didn't even tell her. One of the children is an adult but not trained to care for the child. Then she asked my friend's child to go pick up her son for her. I can't believe this. Is this common? I would never think of doing such a thing. Should she fire her or what? She likes the cna but isn't comfortable with some of the actions on the part of the CNA.

The CNA should be reported to the agency and taken off of the case. Leaving a pediatric client for an hour without telling the mother is patient abandonment.

Yes, she needs to report this behavior to the agency and have this CNA replaced.

I'm a little confused about who's son drove who's vehicle but either way I would certainly never have someone back who would leave my child alone and go off on a personal errand.

Thanks for your input. It was the mothers son who drove the cna's car.
