UNLV SON Spring '19

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

For applicants to the nursing program at UNLV Spring 2019! :)

Hey! I tried to get my advisor to help me calculate my points, but they said they are not able to. Who did you speak with? I just wanna double check my points!

Did you make an appointment over the phone? I know that the counselor can't calculate your score for you over email. So if you can't see the counselor in person, you can meet with them over the phone to calculate your score. I just called the Division of Health Science (702)895-5448 to make an appointment.

Hmmm! I just asked them and the advisor said:

"Unfortunately, my advising center is not allowed to give feedback or review the calculation worksheet for students. You will have to project to your best ability."

:((

Really? That's so weird. I just talked to my counselor a couple weeks ago. I called in for an appointment and they set up a date for me a couple days from then. I didn't get to speak with an advisor right away. As far as I know, the counselor looked at your grades and HESI for you and input in a calculator to get a score. Have you tried a walk-in appointment with a counselor?

Hi guys!

I'm thinking of applying to the Spring semester of UNLV nursing, too. My question is what are you guys doing about housing? Is it better to dorm or to share a room off-campus? And is anyone looking for a roommate? haha.

Also, are you guys going to be working part-time? I'm thinking of getting a job but feeling a bit reluctant due to the rigorous coursework of nursing.

Hey everyone, this will be my first time applying! For those who have taken the HESI, is the A&P portion really as easy as everyone says it is the first time around?

bsn20200, I was going to dorm for the first semester and maybe share a room off-campus after the first semester if I could find a roommate lol. Which were you deciding on? Then, for me personally, I wouldn't try to work if I got in because I've heard that it's difficult as it already is so I wouldn't want to make it more difficult for myself and work at the same time. However, it's up to you to see if going to school and working at the same time will work for you.

odidas, I thought the first try on A&P was not that bad, but make sure you study everything because when I took it there were many questions that were not in that blue study booklet.

Anyone know how competitive spring session is? This forum seems really quiet compared to the others.

hey everyone! This is my second time applying for the program so Im extremely nervous! I was at the first signing session on oct 4 and there were only 9 people there. Im hoping this is a less competitive semester so we can all get in :)

I really hope it's not as competitive! It will be my first time applying and I'm super nervous! I still have to take my Hesi and I'm hoping to score high so that I can apply with a competitive score!

Hi guys! My signing session is oct 12 and I'm applying with 93.27. I'm nervous because the cut off was so high last year but I'm gonna give it a go before retaking any classes. Good luck everyone :)

Hello, all! My signing session is October 18th and I'm applying with a 94.16. I'm not sure if this score is competitive enough for spring semester, but I guess we'll all find out soon! Best of luck to everyone!
