Hi all, wondering if anyone is applying to the nursing program at UNLV for spring 2014? This kills me to ask; but if so, how many points do you have and what makes you want to be a nurse? Good luck to all those hopeful nurses out there☺☺☺
I asked the head director of the health and science advising center if they will ever increase their acceptance number for the nursing school since the scores people applying with are increasing so much and she said no. When I asked why, she said that they don't have enough teachers to teach more students and that they have to share space at the hospitals with other nursing schools for clinicals. Each school gets to have a certain amount of people for each hospital. So maybe if there were more hospitals they would accept more people.
I don't see why they should accept more students. It's already difficult enough to find a job as a new grad in Las Vegas so why should they perpetuate the problem by putting more new grads into an already saturated job market? If anything there should be less applicants (at all schools, not just UNLV) accepted so only the most qualified become nurses.
As scared as I am right now about getting in or not, I'm very excited for those that do make it in!!! And hope the best for everyone! Fingers crossed and prayers for everyone! As lame as it sounds my hubster keeps telling me that if I don't get in this semester there's always a reason you just may not see it at first!!
