UNLV SON Fall 2015

Published

I really didn't want to be this person. Meaning the one who makes/follows a blog for the cohort they're applying for. Only because I'm usually a carefree person and I know this will only cause anxiety.

Anyways, we're about a month away from the deadline, how exciting!

Good luck to all of those applying. :)

I can't post my full points yet, since I'm still a week away from taking the HESI, but if anyone would like to share their points, please do. Also, if anyone wants to provide any tips for the HESI, that would be great as well.

I called and scheduled a signing session today and wanted to share some information with those who may have procrastinated, like myself. There are 5 days left with spots available: June 4th, June 18th, June 19th, June 25th and June 26th and majority of these only have 2 spots available. So, if you have not yet done so, definitely call and schedule your appointment.

I look forward to getting to know those applying and hopefully starting a new journey with you guys come Fall. :)

According to the threads from last summer for the Fall 2014 program, they started making calls on July 3rd which was a Thursday. So hopefully they'll make some next week before the holiday weekend!

ahhh, has anyone heard anything about Roseman vs. UNLV?? I'm really trying to decide which school if I was to be accepted to both. UNLV is obviously better known, but Roseman's block system is really cool and how they have it set up. I do plan on getting a master's, and with Roseman you graduate with a 4.0 and will put me ahead of other applicants into grad school. I never thought about going to Roseman in the first place, but now I don't know what to do

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this site, I'm glad this forum exist to kind of give information. I'm hoping they start the calls right away. It's been a long time and I can't believe I'm this anxious with a little over two weeks left. Good luck to everyone.

Hello fellow anxious pre nursing students!! I am new to this forum :) I am applying for the second time. I applied for the summer session with an 88.4 and two classes in progress. With the classes completed I have a 94.62, well I think lol. From my experience they made calls between the 5th and 8th of the month so they should start next week. I got my denial letter sometime around the 15th. Goodluck to everyone!! :)

Hey! you're not alone! I too was torn between Roseman and UNLV. For me though it comes down to money, and I'd rather not spend the extra 25K but I looked into Roseman's program a lot because I was very interested (still am) plus I have friends in their program and 2 who have graduated and now they are working nurses!!

Roseman is a great program! It is not easy by any means but what program is? If you are really interested in Roseman, I say go for it!

Yea, the only thing making me hesitate is tuition and 90%. Well I better figure it out lol

Yeah the 90% thing is high. But if you think about it you will REALLY know your stuff!!!

Thats ya the one good thing my friend always talked about was when she was in clinicals other nurses really respected them because they knew that the Rosment students were held to a high standard!

Today starts the waiting game. Good luck everyone! I hope the calls come soon and we all will meet at orientation! :-)

Am I the only one that's freaked out about having to take a HESI at the end of each class at UNLV? Also, that it's part of their 75% rule? Ahhhh lol

It's different tho. It's a HESI pertaining to the classes you just finished.

I don't know why I'm more freaked out about UNLVs 75% twice and you're kicked out of the program all together more than rosemans 90% lol. I also hear stories about people getting kicked out of UNLVs program easily if the nurse on their rotation doesn't like them or the students get blamed for stuff on rotations. Maybe I just need a Xanax and chill lol

Don't be freaked out. If you make a mistake during clinicals you're generally put on probation. If you no-call-no-show for clinicals you're kicked out, and if you fail 2+ classes you're out. But you'll likely be fine. My friend says they try and freak out the newbies with their policies and rattling off the failing rates or telling how many don't make it through. But just keep up the same practices you've already had to get this far and you'll be okay!!
