Acceptance into UNLV is not based solely on GPA:

The max amount of points possible is 100.7, note that the overall composite score on the HESI does not factor into your points(its confusing).
Classes you are currently in when you apply count as zeros on the sheet.
The top 48 students, by points, are admitted every semester: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
Fall is usually the most competitive, Summer and Spring are less so.
Last summer was 84, last fall was 86. I don't know what the cutoff was for this Spring, but I was accepted and I only had 81 points, and the cutoff was probably not much lower than that.
Good luck!
thank you very much! what is the max score you can get on the hesi a2?
100 in each of the 4 categories, Reading, Math, Grammar, and A&P. It looks like the "Overall Composite Score" is factored into your points, but according to the health science counselors it isn't.
You then add all your individual HESI scores, which gives you the HESI subtotal(max 400) and divide by 8.75, giving you your total HESI A2 point that go towards your acceptance score(max 45.7).
This means that 45.7 of the 100.7 points possible come from the HESI alone. So doing well on it is really important. My GPA wasn't so great, especially because I was still in Chem 111 when I applied, but doing well on the HESI is pretty much what got me into the program.
I have some great links and an excellent study guide I can send you if you would like.
that would be really helpful! thank you. also im not quite sure how the max score is 100.7 when the # of attempt max points is 15 and the science base max points is 10.3...
15 points max for the Attempt Points.
Science GPA points are based on your average GPA by credit multiplied by 10. So if you have 4.0 GPA in all science pre-requisites it's 4.0 x 10 = 40 points max.
Plus the 45.7 Hesi points.
15 + 40 + 45.7 = 100.7
Send me a Private Message with your email in it as the main HESI guide is in PDF form and has to be sent as an attachment.

Hi Jakob, I was wondering if you could email me the stuff you have for the Hesi A2 test. I am taking the test in September hopefully to be accepted for spring '12 nursing at UNLV. Thanks in advance.
